Friday Featurette #35

The Husband and The Wife enjoying the momentThis week was just a four day work week; but, for some reason, it seemed MUCH longer. The Wife and I are really ready for the weekend. It’s supposed to rain; but we’re hopeful that we’ll be able to get outside at least for a little while; although it will probably not be warm enough to enjoy the pool. We are really enjoying the longer days as we approach the summer solstice. Have a great weekend. We’ll see you on the other side.

Wednesday Weirdness #35

I received a notice for an early termination fee in the mail. I hadn’t realized that I would be subject to one; but, the new price I will be receiving more than makes up the difference. And, they sent it so late after I decided to switch that I couldn’t easily undo the change even if I wanted too. Definitely not the best way to retain customers. They do get to penalize me on my way out; but I’m never, ever, ever going to use them again.

Monday Monologue #35

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The wife and I are slowly getting better at rowing. It been a challenge, mostly because there isn’t any way to practice until after we’ve completed the class and are allowed to row on our own. But, we’re still getting better every time out which is the most important thing. Since it’s an outdoor activity, I’ve recently found myself following the weather more than I used to.
  • The rejuvenated grill did great over the holiday weekend. I’m glad I decided to fix it rather than get a new one. The grill would have been much too big to dispose of with the regular trash; but the parts I replaced easily fit in our trash can.
  • There is a guy that “works out” in the gym that I go to that has terrible form. I don’t even know why he bothers. He can’t be getting anything from the time he’s spending. Everyone (including me) has given up trying to correct him. He just doesn’t seem to care and probably won’t until he gets injured and it’s too late.
  • I was going to say that I haven’t had to fix anything recently other than unclogging the ice maker; but, then I remembered that I replaced some malfunctioning parts on the pool cleaner. I’d much rather spend the time (and money) to fix it and let it do all of the work rather than clean the pool myself.

Friday Featurette #34

If you followed our “old” blog you know that I used to love my collages. I don’t make them anymore; mostly because we now use the WordPress media library. The media library makes most things easier; but that’s one of these features that’s missing and difficult to do as a plugin. But, unlike our previous home, we have a lot of bandwidth and we can easily post movies. So, we decided to create a slide show of pictures from our last photo session. It took a bit of experimentation to get the parameters right; but, we’re pleased with the result. We hope that you are too.

P.S. There is no audio.

Wednesday Weirdness #34

A guy that I work with sent out an email to me and a bunch of other people accusing me of being “difficult” because I wouldn’t do his job for him. I was not pleased! We ended up having a meeting with his boss and my boss where he retracted what he said and it was decided that he would do his job and could go back to doing mine. The entire in thing was a colossal waste of time. It would have been much easier for him to just do his job since that’s what he ended up being told to do anyway.

Monday Monologue #34

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The Wife and I recently “celebrated” our 25th wedding anniversary. Celebrated is in quotes since we’re both still sick and will not be having our customarily super-expensive dinner until this coming weekend. But, we did spend some time in the pool and, of course, do “other” things.
  • The Wife and I are learning how to row this summer. So far, we’ve both avoided flipping the boat and getting wet. It seems like it will be fun once we get the hang of it. And a great way to exercise. Right now, we’re too focused on mechanics to enjoy our surroundings; but, we hope to become more relaxed.
  • Once again, our Keurig coffee maker is not working properly. And, when we need coffee, we need coffee. So it looks like we’ll be buying a new one. Update: We got a replacement. Hopefully, this one will last longer than the previous one.
  • Our hearts go out to the people of OKC who were affected by the events on Monday. Especially the parents whose children never came home from school.
