Friday Featurette #37

The Wife standing naked in the bedroom blow drying her hairI didn’t think it was possible; but, this week, everything I do is being micromanaged even more than it was. It’s gotten to the point where I just forward emails with commentary to management. They somehow thing that I’m not properly prioritizing my work; yet they never tell me to do anything different. I don’t need help deciding which super-hot task I should work on, I need help with the super-hot tasks. It’s very frustrating since I KNOW they are never going to tell me to refuse an urgent request from a large and profitable customer. I have no idea what they are thinking.

Maybe they should hire someone rather than “approve” every request. Grrrh. I am so ready for the weekend.

Wednesday Weirdness #37

When I went into the kitchen at work this morning to wash the travel mug I bring my coffee to work in, one of my coworkers was in there washing his shoes in the sink. Who cleans their shoes in a food preparation area? I clean my mug in the dishwasher every night and I was still disgusted. It’s clearly not intended for such a task. I’m just glad that he didn’t put his shoes in a microwave oven to dry them off.

Monday Monologue #37

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The Wife and I rowed with some students from some of the other classes today. Seeing other beginners like us who aren’t “built to row” gave us a much better perspective of our progress.
  • I spoke to soon about nothing being broken. I just spent a TON of money on a repair that only the dealer could do. They did a good job. But they definitely aren’t cheap.
  • I’ve finally got the pool sanitized and rebalanced. There are chemicals for every malady. I just wonder sometimes how such small bottles can cost so much.
  • We had hamburgers and steaks hot off the grill for dinner today. Way, way better than working all night.

Friday Featurette #36

The Wife hanging out naked in the bedroom waiting for The husbandI just finished working 30 out of the last 36 hours so the weekend is a very welcome break. I won’t be doing anything much beyond sleeping and relaxing for the next few days. And I’m really going to enjoy it.

Have a GREAT weekend!

Wednesday Weirdness #36

I found a bug in one of the plugins we use on this site. It wasn’t a big deal to fix since I know WordPress and PHP; but, I thought that I should report to the plugin’s author. I emailed him and posted a comment in the appropriate place on his web site yet I still haven’t heard anything from him. It’s certainly something that needs to be fixed. His site is still active and development of the plugin hasn’t been abandoned so I don’t understand why there has not not been some sort of reply/acknowledgement. Definitely not the way to treat a user who’s trying to help; particularly since I sent him the change that needed to be made.

Monday Monologue #36

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of spam pretending to be from PayPal with viruses attached. Does anyone ever open those emails? Someone must or they still wouldn’t sending them; but I don’t know of anyone that does.
  •  The wife and I purchased some rowing shorts. They’re kinda like bike pants except the padding is in a different place. Very functional; but, the men’s version is definitely not modest. I don’t consider myself a self-conscious person; so it’s not a big deal; but, I wonder what guys who are do. The really make a difference comfort-wise.
  •  I spent most of the evening outside cutting the grass and doing yard work. I like relaxing easy over the weekend; but, even though I started as soon as I got home, it was already getting dark by the time I was finished. And I’ve still got a few things left to do.
  •  The wife and I love this time of year. Memorial Day was just last week, and we’re already less than a month from our Independence Day vacation.  We haven’t taken much any time off since New Year’s Day. So, it’s been a long period without a break.
