Friday Featurette #107

The Wife sitting naked on the bed waiting for The HusbandSaturday is forecast to be cold and possibly rainy, so; we don’t plan to do any outside chores. Instead, we’re looking forward to a quiet weekend inside. We’re not the weekend “road warriors” that we used to be; but, somehow, we’re still just a busy as ever. A relaxing weekend is still kinda rare.

Here’s a “cheers to the weekend” picture of The Wife. We’ll see you on the other side.

Wednesday Weirdness #107

The updates that were automatically installed yesterday evening did not install cleanly and left our computer in an unstable and unusable state. This is definitely a situation where the software updates installed via Windows “automatic update” feature are doing more harm than good. I Googled and found numerous other people who had encountered the issue; but no one with a solution. Very frustrating. I know they can’t possibly test every possible configuration; but, given the number of people who experienced the issue the day of the release, I wonder if they did any testing at all.

Monday Monologue #107

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I forgot to put my mobile phone or the charger Sunday night; but it was no big deal. It’s nice having a phone with a battery that will last two days or even longer.
  • We did our first long distance race in rowing this past weekend. It was bath fun and scary being on a BIG river. But we both did alright, and our time wasn’t too bad either.
  • My birthday is fast approaching. It’s not a “milestone” like last year and, if anything, I feel younger. But it also being the due date of my vehicle registrations is still aggravating. A birthday without having to pay state-mandated bills would be a great present. At least we don’t have to pay for worthless emissions control checks anymore.
  • Today was a glorious day. Probably the last one of the year. We stayed outside until dark and were comfortable in shorts and a lightweight short sleeved shirts.

Friday Featurette #106

The Husband and The Wife enjoying a moment togetherWe’re closing the pool next week so today is the last Friday of summer. Technically, it’s been fall for a while; but having the cover on the pool makes it seem it more like winter . First, the weather wasn’t as warm as sunny as normal and then the “temporary” dog was in the way; so we haven’t gotten in the pool as much as we would have liked. It’s depressing knowing it will be impossible to swim until next season. So, even without swimming, we’re going to enjoy this final “summer” weekend.

Wednesday Weirdness #106

Earlier today I was having another one of those strange email exchanges where someone was “answering” my emails without reading to them. I don’t know why reading a few short sentences is so difficult for some people. I’m sure they are swamped with stuff to do. Anyone would be if they wasted so much time and effort typing so many unnecessary messages. I’m definitely not the only person sending then “didn’t you read what I just said, let me try this again with short words and small sentences” type messages.

Monday Monologue #106

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The “temporary” dog seems to be doing better which wasn’t hard since it would have been difficult to do worse. But, we’re still glad that it’s finally housebroken and has (mostly) stopped chewing on things.
  • It seems like it’s been forever; but I finally seem to be getting over my cold. I’ve still got a slightly sore throat; but, at long last, I’m not congested anymore.
  • I was finally able to take care of the traffic violation I mentioned last week, one hour before they closed, the day before the scheduled court appearance. What a disorganized bureaucracy!
  • The football team we support got totally destroyed this weekend. We’ll still be fans; but it was an ugly team performance.
