Wednesday Weirdness #133

Tax day sucks. Especially if you owe like we do. And especially if you’re NOT opening your swimming pool the same week. We know that the pool will be even better after it’s been painted. But, right now, it’s a small bit of cheer that’s missing.

Monday Monologue #133

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I cut the grass for the first time of the season on Saturday. It took a very long time. We had a lot of rain recently and the temperatures have been warmer so it quickly transformed from brown and dormant to green and growing fast. Amazingly, the lawn mower stared on the first pull.
  • We celebrated the “temporary” dog’s birthday this past weekend. She’s been here most of her life. We definitely didn’t plan on her being here for so long. She (mostly) trained these days so now she’s just a dog.
  • Our taxes returns are completed and ready to file. We always owe so we’re not in a hurry to mail them. We like it that way; but we still hate writing the checks.
  • We all got the upgraded to the latest version of Android on our phones. It’s nice being with a carrier that provider timely updates. The last company we were with only did minor updates. So our phones were basically frozen in time.

Friday Featurette #132

The Husband and The Wife enjoying a moment together on a spring eveningLast Friday was not so good. Today was much better. We are really hoping that it is an indication of the weekend. The day was kinda rushed and hectic; but, I finished everything that I needed to complete and my weekend is free (except for the homeowner thing). And beautiful spring weather is forecast. The grass is green and the birds are in full song. Already a great start to the weekend.

Traditional Thursday #132

The Wife underneath The Husband with her legs togetherI’m drowning in totally useless meetings at work. I know that times like that come and go at work. However, that knowledge still doesn’t make them any easier to deal with. I’m not frustrated as much as mystified since it’s so obvious that there are better uses of our time. But, thankfully, I can always come home and forget things. Even when work is “normal”, I still like to come home and forget about it.

Wednesday Weirdness #132

Monday was MLB’s opening day and hardly anyone even noticed. I remember when there were big parades and parents used to pull their kids out of school. Now, it seems, time has passed the sport by and I’m not sure much can be done to modernize it and restore its popularity. Sometimes, I wonder how long it will continue to be a major sport.

Monday Monologue #132

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I’m fully recovered from my malaise of last week. Mostly because I was able to remedy the situation. And I learned a lesson that I will not forget.
  • We rowed for the first time of the season on Sunday. It was great to get on the water. Unfortunately, rain is in the forecast for the next few days. So it will be a while before we can go rowing again.
  • We’re having some work done on our pool so we will be opening it later in the spring than we typically do this year. Hopefully, it won’t rain too much and delay the start of the project.
  • I’m not nearly as much of a fan of the “boys of summer” as I used to be. I almost forgot that today was opening day. My favorite team will be out of contention by July anyway. Is it football season yet?

Friday Featurette #131

The wife relaxing naked on the bed on a bright spring dayThere are bad days and there are legendary bad days. Yesterday was one of the latter. So, I’m checking out for the week and hoping for better times after the weekend. See you on the other side. ‘Til then, here’s a picture of my favorite person to help cheer me up.
