Monday Monologue #142

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The Wife and I had a great race this weekend. We’re still not fast yet; but, at each regatta, we row better than the last.
  • The temporary dog has been pretty insistent about getting someone’s attention when she needs to go outside. Unfortunately, I often happen to be that someone.
  • The officiating has been consistently terrible in the Women’s World Cup soccer games I have watched. Both no calls and phantom calls. The level of play is much higher when all the best female players for a country are concentrated on a single national team so they really need more officials.
  • Today was not as stressful a day at work as in the past few weeks. I really hope that’s a trend that continues.

Friday Featurette #141

The Wife longing naked on the bed showing her early summer tan linesNow that it’s been redone and the weather has been nice, we’ve finally been able to get in the pool as much as we’d like. It’s MUCH better than the last few years. The worn down paint was mostly cosmetic; but we hadn’t realized how “dirty” the water was. It was clear and the chemistry was balanced; but, over the years, a lot of “stuff” had been dissolved in it. Now it just feels better. Have a great weekend!

Wednesday Weirdness #141

I was very nearly struck by a bicyclist riding on the sidewalk when I was walking out the door of an office building with heavy foot traffic. I would have been really, really mad if he had run into me. Firstly, he shouldn’t have been riding on the sidewalk. Secondly, he shouldn’t have been going that fast considering that he was already riding in a place reserved for pedestrian traffic. And thirdly, he shouldn’t have been so close to the door.  (Which was probably unavoidable since the sidewalk was so narrow.) As it was, I could barely jump back out of the way. A less nimble person would have definitely been run into. Some people are total jerks.

Monday Monologue #141

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • Now that it’s been redone, out pool is magnificent! It’s almost like new. (Which is a good thing since getting it fixed was gigantically expensive.) We really love it and swim it as often as we can so, for us, the expense is “reasonable”. But, it would never be considered cheap.
  • We can’t understand how anyone can say not playing the Women’s World Cup on grass isn’t sexist. It’s not the preferred surface for anyone who has ever played the game. And temporary grass isn’t that expensive. I guess everyone was too worried about being caught accepting bribes to do their jobs.
  • The “temporary” dog had an accident in the kitchen. Not good; but probably the “best” place. She doesn’t like to go outside in the rain. But that really doesn’t matter since she’s a dog.
  • We’ve been drowning in spam emails recently. Our spam filter is working well so it’s not a “problem”. But, I still need to review the global spam folder all and ensure that it doesn’t contain any legitimate emails.

Friday Featurette #140

The Wife sitting naked on the bed with flavored lubricantFor a variety of reasons, I ended up in my third choice boat when we went rowing today. And The Wife was in her second choice. But we didn’t let that spoil our outing. We love being on the water on Fridays. It’s a great way to leave the stresses (AKA people) of the work week behind and kick off the weekend. It doesn’t take long for us to decompress and get ready for the weekend. We’re not sure what we’ll do yet. But, for once, we don’t have any chores that need to be done. Perhaps we’ll get in the pool.

Have a great weekend. We’ll see you on the other side.

Wednesday Weirdness #140

The “temporary” dog that shouldn’t even be here knows (almost) every sound in the house. From the noise the garage door makes when it’s being opened or closed. Or the sound of dinner being made. Or the crinkling of someone opening the packaging of a snack that she likes. Many “normal” dog things confuse her. But, if it’s something “interesting” happening around the house she’s got it figured out.
