Friday Featurette #269

The Husband on top of The Wife with her legs togetherWe’re supposed to have our first significant snow fall of the winter this weekend and we are not ready for it. It was just last week that we were running in the park in short sleeves (or at least I was). I’ve made sure our cars are ready for the winter and converted our door power equipment to snow removal mode. But, mentally, I’m not ready for snow. ‘Cause if its snowing in December, it will probably snow a lot before the winter is over. Obviously, we’ll service. But, we still won’t like it. Anyway, have a great weekend.

Wednesday Weirdness #269

The computer that I recently upgraded to Windows 10 totally wireded out when I deleted the Windows.old folder so I had to restore it. I’m not sure why. But I need to determine what the problem was/is. Other wise, I will have a major problem when Windows auto-deletes the folder to reclaim disk space 30 days or whatever it is after upgrading.

Tuesday Two For #269

The Wife standing naked in front of the mirror drying her hairThe Wife is slowly recovering from the flu. She’s getting better every day; but she’s still not back to her normal self. So, this week we’re just posting a few candid photographs. We should have more photos of our regular “activities” next week.”

Monday Monologue #269

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The Wife has the flu so we may not be follow our normal posting schedule for the next few days.
  • This weekend was a not the best of times if you are a college or pro football fan around here.
  • Corel VideoStudio X10 has some great features. It may become the video editor of choice in 2018.
  • One more warm day and then we’re forecast to have colder than normal temperatures for December. Is it Spring yet?

Friday Featurette #268

Today we are posting a short video clip made with Corel VideoStudio X10. It’s a big file to be so short. If it were longer it would need to be down-sampled. But, it was quick and easy to add a mosaic (pixilation) effect with the track motion filter. Unfortunately, it can’t do anything about the sound.

Traditional Thursday #268

Here is more of this week’s movie that we are experimenting with. Perhaps we will use a different tool with the part we post next. I upgraded to the latest version of Corel’s VisualStudio recently and we haven’t tried it yet.

P.S.: I installed yet another update to WordPress, our blogging software today. Hopefully it didn’t break anything that wasn’t already broken.

Wednesday Weirdness #268

After many, many failed attempts, I finally upgraded the last computer that I use regularly to Windows 10. I’m not certain what the issue was; but I suspect lack of disk space. The Windows.old folder is HUGE. Much larger than on any of my other systems. It certainly would have been nice to receive an error message to that effect. Especially since the program theoretically checks to ensure enough disk space is available. The setup logs were amazingly uninformative. And, since everything gets deleted, upon failure, there was no way to tell what that problem was. It was coincidence that I had more space available this time around. What a gigantic pain.

Tuesday Two For #268

Since we’re having problems making movies with sound, we though that it might be fun to play around with some of the video effects that don’t work well with audio. So, this week, we’re speeding up the videos. Not as something to do all of the time. Just something different. Please let us know what you think.

Monday Monologue #268

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • We had a great Thanksgiving holiday. It wasn’t long enough. But four-day weekends never are. We’re already looking forward to Christmas.
  • Someone scratched up the door of my SUV. Not bad enough to need to go to the shop. But bad enough to require touch up paint which I don’t have. So, the entire incident is doubly irritating.
  • It’s actually been warm enough the past few days that I’m debating whether or not to cut the grass one more time. I’ll probably leave it. I can think of much better things to do outside on a rare December weekend with warm temperatures.
  • I’ve ordered a few items online today. But nothing expensive. Unfortunately, most of the items we want/need were not on sale.
