Traditional Thursday #289

The Wife fixing the pillows on the bedHere is a candid photograph of The Wife making up the new bed after our photo session was over. We’re not posting it for any particular reason. It just seemed like a fun picture. Life is good now that the days aren’t so cold, wet and dreary. We really enjoy the sunshine. Even when we aren’t outside doing things. The days are long, the sun is warm. And summer is finally here.

Wednesday Weirdness #289

I accidentally made an error in the new password I set this week during one of the regularly forced password changes at work. And since we can only change our password once a week, I can’t correct it. So, I’m stuck trying to remember to type the wrong password with a mnemonic error in it. All the arcane password rules that don’t really increase security are frustrating. Especially since they aren’t even following the latest guidance.

Monday Monologue #289

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The latest Windows Update installed a new major version of Windows 10 on our home computers. Now, they can’t see each other. It works great otherwise and has some interesting new features, so, I won’t be rolling back. But, that’s an annoying problem.
  • The Girl and her family of dogs was home for the weekend. We had a great Mother’s Day. Although, strangely, one of her dogs can’t swim and needed to be carefully watched whenever they were outside near the pool.
  • One of the “waterproof” electronic items that I use for rowing somehow got water inside the screen on Saturday. So now I have to pay to ship it it back to the manufacturer and pay for repair. I’m definitely not happy.
  • My next-door neighbor did NOT cut his grass this weekend which is very unusual. Especially since I cut mine. I wonder if he’s started to notice the damage all the frequent mowing is causing.

Friday Featurette #288

We had another good day on and off the river today. After a cold, wet April, it has been nice to finally have some sun. Unlike other days, we usually have the river to ourselves on Friday since the other rowers have something to do. It’s a great way to relax and get ready for the weekend. Like always, I’ve got to cut the grass; but, otherwise, am looing forward to a relaxing two days. Have a great Mother’s Day weekend.

Traditional Thursday #288

So far, this has been a good month. We’re slowly starting to forget the cold, dreary days of April. And, if we don’t have a thunderstorm pop up, we can get in the pool for the first time of the season sometime over the weekend. Plus, we’ve finally been able to row consistently on our normal schedule. That shouldn’t be unusual; but, this year, it has been. So, it’s good to be able to enjoy the spring both inside and out.

Wednesday Weirdness #288

According to the report from our smart thermostat, in April, the heat ran 197% more than last year. That’s a lot even if April 2018 was unusually cold and April 2017 was unusually warm. We’re definitely are glad to see April in the rear-view mirror. Especially since the temperatures the first week or so in May seems more normal with even warmer weather in the forecast.

Tuesday Two For #288

Since the video we made last week had better sound, we decided to do an encore this week. We won’t make videos every week; but, we want to take advantage of the situation while we can. The dial on our worn-out old camera didn’t weird out like it did a couple of weeks ago. So, everything was good. Enjoy

Monday Monologue #288

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The pool is open! The water is still a bit cloudy and it still has some earthworms in it. But, it should be ready very soon.
  • It rained a bit on Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon; but, we had a great weekend outside. The cold weather seems to be ending. And were finally enjoying some warm sunny days.
  • I cut the grass this weekend. So, for the next day or two, it will be shorter than my next-door neighbor who mows his lawn twice a week. I like a nice-looking yard too; but, I’ve usually got things to do in the evening during the week.
  • I got a mud on my car from the parking lot at the place where we row and need to wash it again. It got flooded during the high water we had this spring. So, there is mud every where whenever it rains. My vehicle looks like I went off-roading.

Friday Featurette #287

Since the spring noise seems to be reduced, we’re posting another video with sound. Hopefully, the new mattress will last longer than the previous one. I noticed that I could see the springs moving around on the bottom when I was carrying it into another bedroom. It was definitely time to get a new one. Have a great weekend!
