Traditional Thursday #293

The Husband and The Wife geting readyWe were out a late today enjoying a good day on the river. It was a great evening. It makes for a late photo session and an even later dinner. There will be plenty of time to eat early this winter when its cold and snowy. For us, summer is far too short (even though it’s not even here yet).

Wednesday Weirdness #293

A driver got mad at me when I was crossing the street downtown for backing out of the crosswalk because I didn’t think he was going to stop for a red light. He angrily motioned me across after slamming on the brakes at the last second. I have no idea why people rush up to stop lights and slow down at the last moment when the light is red and has been for a long time. Assuming that they are going to stop is a bad idea.

Tuesday Two For #293

The Wife sitting naked on the bed before a "photo" sessionThe Wife is getting quite a tan from all of the biking and rowing that we have been doing. She wears shorter shorts and shirts with different sleeve lengths so it’s not as odd as mine. Hopefully we will get some more time in the pool to “fix” things. Of course, an uneven tan is a good problem to have. When we were having all of the dreary spring days I didn’t think that we would ever see the sun.

Monday Monologue #293

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • We did NOT ride our bicycles this weekend like we wanted too since there were too many “scattered thunderstorms” both afternoons. It never really rained. But, being caught in the rain 10-miles away from our vehicle is not any fun.
  • We’ve are rowing a lot faster than before. We’ve known how to row for years. But we are only just now truly understanding the mechanics of rowing. We always knew technique was important. But, being able diagnose and fix bad technique is elusive.
  • It’s great having a big lawn mower when I want to get the grass cut in a hurry. Even wet grass is no problem if the ground isn’t soggy. I can get the yard done early and enjoy my weekend without having to wait around.
  • The summer solstice and the 4th of July is right around the corner. We’re a bit sad because it means that summer is half over. But, there will still be many glorious summer days.

Friday Featurette #292

The Wife sitting naked on the bed before a "photo" sessionThe rain or more precisely the thunder chased us off the river today. It was one of those days where it was actually sunny at the river; but, we could hear lightning. Rowing, like all sports played outdoors, follows the 30-minute rule. And every time we though that the storm might be moving off, there was more lighting. Better safe than sorry. Especially when tomorrow is forecast to be another warm spring day. Have a great weekend.

Traditional Thursday #292

The Husband and The Wife enjoying a moment togetherHere is a picture of the two of us just hanging out after a photo session. I’m not in as many photographs as The Wife so I though it would be nice for both of us to be in a candid picture. The summer solstice is fast approaching and we are really enjoying the long evenings. Days like today don’t come around too often.

Wednesday Weirdness #292

We saw a drone flying around the river when we were rowing today. That’s not unusual except for the fact that the operator appeared to be very inexperienced from the way it was being controlled. So, it was perplexing why they would fly it over a body of water where it would be irretrievably lost if there was a mishap which came close to happening several times while were passing.

Monday Monologue #292

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The new bags I ordered for our bicycles work well and are just the right size. We have plenty of space to carry what we need unlike the almost nonexistent storage capacity we had before. Much more convenient.
  • The string in the gas-powered trimmer I use always breaks multiple times whenever I edge along the fence. It’s more convenient than the corded, electric trimmer I used previously. But it’s not as easy to use as I expected since I didn’t realize how much I used auto feed.
  • When new were riding our bikes on Sunday, we almost got run down by a group of people riding ATVs on the bike trail even though a “No Motor Vehicles” sign is clearly posted at every entrance. Hopefully the park police will stop them before someone walking or running gets injured.
  • May was a warm sunny month that mostly made us forget how cold and dreary April was. Hopefully June will be more of the same. This weekend was good; but, is supposed to rain tomorrow.

Friday Featurette #291

Today’s video is in the category of ” it’s good to know how to do things even if you don’t have a reason”. I don’t often rotate videos during transcoding; but needed to for this one. It’s a mystery why the camera saves videos in the wrong orientation whenever its rotated. But, its good to know how to fix it.

As you can see, The Wife has is starting to get a tan since we’re really been getting outside and enjoying the sun. Hopefully, there will be plenty of sunshine on Saturday and Sunday for us to bike and row in.

Have a great weekend.
