Friday Featurette #303

The Wife sitting naked on the bed before a "photo" sessionOne of our previously scheduled weekend activities was cancelled. So, we will have more free time this weekend. Hopefully it will be warm and sunny enough for us to get in the pool (if it doesn’t rain). I have to work on our pool equipment so it would be good to be able to use it. Have a great weekend.

Wednesday Weirdness #303

I had the pool company come out and look at the heater that didn’t come on this weekend and, of course, it worked perfectly when they were here. We’ve had issues occasionally this summer; but this weekend was the first time there was a consistent problem. So, a service call seemed reasonable. I’m glad that there wasn’t something else that needed replacement. But annoyed at having to pay for an unnecessary service all.

Tuesday Two For #303

The Wife standing naked in front of the mirror drying her hairHere is a picture showing how much sun The Wife has gotten this summer and especially this past weekend. It’s either been cool and rainy or hot and sunny with no in between. Unlike past Augusts I’ve mostly needed to cut the grass every weekend. The rain is good for the yard. Even if it is somewhat unusual. (I will not be cutting the grass twice a week like my next-door neighbor.)

Monday Monologue #303

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • We did indeed get in the pool on Sunday. The water was cold (for us) but it was still good.
  • We got chased off the river by rain again today. It’s slightly frustrating since it never rains for too long. But its better to be safe; especially since rain showers can easily turn into a thunderstorm.
  • I cut the grass in record time on Saturday; mostly because didn’t edge with the push mower and trimmer like I usually do.
  • After watching a few preseason games over the past two weeks, we are ready for some real football.

Friday Featurette #302

This weekend looks like a good one to get in the swimming pool. Unfortunately, our pool heater will not ignite. With any luck, the water will be warm enough that it won’t matter. We’re going to get it fixed since there is not any point in having a pool that you can’t use. But, we’ve had certainly enough broken things already this year. Hopefully we will be lucky and it will be something minor and we can. We’ve definitely had more than our share of bad luck recently. Have a great weekend. Maybe our next post will be about relaxing in the pool.

Traditional Thursday #302

Our new refrigerator is great. Our only “complaint” is that it doesn’t make ice as fast as the old one even though the freezer is colder. And, of course, it was gigantically expensive. We’ll have a few cool days that we will not need much, if any, ice for our sports water bottles and the ice maker will eventually fill up. But, we’ll remember the cost for a long time. Not having a lot of low-cost options is one of the unfortunate realities of our kitchen.

Wednesday Weirdness #302

The change engine oil soon notification is appearing whenever I start my car. It’s actually very annoying since it blocks the dashboard display and has to be explicitly dismissed rather than disappearing after a set time like the other notices. Especially since “soon” is sometime in September. My vehicle is well maintained. But I don’t change things super early.

Tuesday Two For #302

It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago that summer had just started and we were enjoying the long days; but, sadly, it’s become apparent that summer is definitely starting to wane. The evenings are cooler and sunset is 45-minutes earlier than it used to be. We still have plenty of time to have a good row. But, its usually getting dark by the time we are home. It’s been a great summer that has zoomed by all too quickly.

Monday Monologue #302

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • We got chased off the river by heavy thunderstorms twice in three days. The first time we got thoroughly soaked. But the second time we were in our car before the deluge started. Then the sun came out. Strange weather.
  • I cut the grass this weekend. It is nice having a powerful mower that power though tall, damp grass. That way I can mow quickly and move on to the summer activities I enjoy.
  • I had to work on Saturday. I know it’s not always the case but it seems like stuff always blows up on Friday. Luckily, I was still able to get out and enjoy the sun (and still get all the yardwork done).
  • My next-door neighbor cut his grass too even though its August and he just cut it earlier in the week. I wonder how much time he wastes cutting his grass (and doing other things) when he doesn’t need too.
