In addition to closing the pool, I also switched the direction of the ceiling fans in all the rooms and reprogrammed our smart thermostat. All necessary tasks that, sadly, make the cool, fall weather we’ve been having recently seem much more permanent.
Our pool is closed for the season. It’s been cold for a while, so, we weren’t going to swim anymore. But, it’s still kinda depressing to look in the back yard and see the pool with the winter cover on. We are hoping for a short, unseasonably warm winter to make up for the unseasonably long, cold one we had last year.
I changed the sounds the camera makes when it takes a picture in time lapse mode so it wouldn’t be so obtrusive. But, now it sounds like a video game which is an interesting background sound to our activities. It’s good to be able to tell that its working; but it doesn’t suit the mood. I’m probably going to turn it off. Especially since I’m not sure I would stop and restart it anyway.
I recently discovered a few typographical errors in the tags used for posts that resulted in a several posts being miscategorized. And, amazingly, despite all the new “features” that have been added to WordPress, there is still no easy way … Continue reading
I made a purchase online in Euros recently. I was amazed how easy the transaction was. Technology has really come a long way. I even received a slightly more reasonable exchange rate than I was expecting. The world is much more connected than it used to be. And, we’ve got our own little digital home on the web to add to the variety.
Anyway, have a great weekend.
Our pool pump recently died. We had to have it fixed even though it’s doubtful we’ll be able to use it before we have it closed for the winter in a few weeks. Unlike many people, we don’t have a timer and always leave the pump running. Or water is usually crystal clear. But, the equipment does wear out faster. Its good to have nice things. But, there is also more opportunity for things to break down.
We’ve had to put our boats away in the dark twice this week. Where did the long, lazy days of summer go? It inevitably happens every fall. But, losing the daylight always makes us a bit melancholy. We still did … Continue reading
One of the things The Wife always says is that “if you have a lot of stuff that needs replacing that means you have a lot of stuff”. I sometimes forget that when I’m fixing things. But, it is a … Continue reading
I really like the progressive lenses in the eyeglasses I got this year. Except when I bump them and get them out of alignment. The issue isn’t as severe as the last few pairs I had. Unfortunately, today, I had a mishap that will result in a trip to the optometrist first thing in the morning. I can still read things OK. But, I’m starting to get a headache. Hopefully everything will soon be as good as new.
Our camera died again after just two photos! This time, I restarted it in movie mode and, thankfully, it operated normally for the remainder of our photo session. Its old, especially for consumer electronics. We would have replaced it long ago if we didn’t use our smartphones for most photographs and videos. It’s unusual for us to have such outdated electronics. So, it’s doubly annoying.
