Monday Monologue #262

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • It’s taken over a year; but I’m actually almost comfortable transporting our boat on the roof of our car. I still don’t drive as fast as I normally do which is probably wise.
  • We visited the temporary dog and her owner. It was a bit weird being the guest rather than the host. But everyone, dogs and humans were glad to see us.
  • It rained so I didn’t cut my grass over the weekend. It’s going to be kind of shaggy before I get to it this coming weekend.
  • I didn’t realize it was Columbus Day until I was already in my car preparing to run errands. Unfortunately, it’s just a regularly day for us.

Friday Featurette #247

The Wife sitting naked on the bed before a "photo" sessionThe river is too high to row due to the heavy rainfall from the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy so The Wife and I didn’t row today and will likely be of the water for the next few days. We had an early evening; but, we prefer being outside enjoying the sun. Compare The Wife’s tan with the one in pictures from earlier in the year. Stay dry and have a great weekend.

Monday Monologue #247

  • The weekend was even busier than planned. But it was all good. Looking toward another crazy busy couple of days outside in the sun next weekend. The upcoming long weekend for the 4th of July should be nice and relaxing.
  • The new outdoor power equipment I got last year is great for hectic weekends. The engine is powerful enough that yard work always takes the same amount of time even if the grass is long and/or wet. Definitely quicker than the small push mower I was using previously.
  • I did take a break and get in the pool on Saturday afternoon which was nice. It was a great way to relax after a busy day. Unfortunately, Sunday was super windy and not good pool weather. I really could use an extra weekend day sometimes.
  • It rained today; but we still got our row in after the storms passed. It’s nice not being on a schedule and being able to get out whenever we want. Much better than rowing at a specific time.

Monday Monologue #246

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The weekend was glorious. We rowed every day and got in the pool as well. I did have to cut the grass along the back line; but skipped the rest of the yard. It was a cool spring. So, we are really enjoying the hot weather.
  • The new automatic chlorine feeder certainly makes checking and adjusting the pool chemistry an easy task. Every time I replace it I think that Its not that expensive relative to operating a pool I need to get a new one more often before it becomes such a nuisance.
  • Our printer is running out of whatever ink cartridge is represented by a circle as opposed to a bowtie. I wonder why they couldn’t just use words rather than cryptic symbols since it has an LCD display. I think it’s low on color ink.
  • The Wife and I did our second twilight row today. We love the long days of late spring and early summer. We just wish they lasted longer. We’re already almost to the longest day of the year.

Friday Featurette #245

The Wife sitting naked on the bed before a "photo" sessionTemperatures are supposed to be near 90-degrees this weekend so I’ve already adjusted the chemistry and warmed up the water in the swimming pool. Other than raining on Monday, the weather has been hot and dry so I don’t need to cut the grass. This afternoon was a great day on the river and The Wife and I are hoping for more of the same. And some time in the pool as well. Have a great weekend.

Friday Featurette #244

The Husband and The Wife enjoying a moment togetherMy luck recently hasn’t been that good so I’ve been doing a lot of complaining recently. But, in the big picture, it hasn’t been bad either. So, I’m going to stop. Have a great weekend. I’ve alreay resolved that next week is going to be a better week.

Monday Monologue #205

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • Amazingly, I was only 150 pounds when I weighed myself on Friday. It’s been a long time since I weight that little. It’s been great weather for all of our outside activities so I’m a little bit lighter than usual.
  • My next door neighbor cut the grass on Sunday afternoon even though he just cut it Friday. It’s been raining; but not so much that it needs cutting every other day. I won’t be mowing again until next weekend.
  • Instead of cutting the grass we got in the pool and enjoyed a burning hot summer day. It was glorious. We don’t know how many more days like Sunday we’re going to get. Especially on weekends when we’ve got plenty of time to get in the pool.
  • Since it has been so hot and humid, we’ve been rowing at twilight. It’s cooler and we don’t get home that much later since the sun goes down earlier than in June and July. Unfortunately, we can’t do it all the time since we need daylight to wash our boat.

Monday Monologue #154

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • We’ve identified the first (but hopefully not the last) item in our quest to “live large” now that our kid expenses are (mostly) finished.
  • The replacement watch I just purchased is better than the one that mysteriously came up missing. I’m irritated that it was lost (AKA was stolen). But, the new one is a better size and style for me anyway.
  • We got in the pool three consecutive days this weekend and really didn’t need the heater. The water was 85-degrees all three days.
  • Now that I’ve used it for a while Windows 10 just seems like regular Windows. And, Windows 7 which I use at work seems old and outdated.

Monday Monologue #71

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • January was brutal weather-wise. We’re very glad to see it end even if a yet another GIGANTIC snowstorm is forecast for tomorrow.
  • We had a GREAT movie night this past Saturday. Unlike some of our more recent purchases, the Blu-Ray we watched was definitely worth seeing. A good way to spend a cold winter night.
  • The people at SB party we went too on Sunday were fun which is good since the game itself was forgettable. Of course the biggest losers were the advertisers in the 2nd half.
  • I can’t believe that the Winter Olympics start this week. It doesn’t seem like the last one was four years ago but, of course, it was. Hopefully there won’t be any serious accidents in practice/training.

Monday Monologue #61

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I was so aggravated when I discovered the problem with the video player being incorrectly rendered in using Internet Explorer 11 that I totally forgot that the current version of WordPress includes a native media player that doesn’t require any plugins. I updated an older video post to use it and didn’t see any problems so I switch all replaced the player used in all of the other video posts too. It doesn’t work with IE8. But I figure anyone still using anything that ancient is probably still using Windows XP and is used to having a bunch problems including browsing the internet.
  • I’ve somehow become involved in a bidding war on a part I want/need on eBay. I generally avoid volatile auctions; but it’s been very difficult to find what I’m looking for; so I’m carefully following auction and increasing my bid.
  • The Wife and I are both on vacation this week. It’s was only a three day week anyway, so it’s a good way to take a lot away without using a lot of vacation. And a lot of my coworkers are out so the is less chance of someone breaking something and me being called in to work.
  • It’s snowing. Not unusual for around here for November; but still depressing.
