Monday Monologue #282

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • Earlier today we had nice spring like weather with temperatures near 60-degrees. Now, the temperature outside has already dropped into the 30s and snow is supposed to start falling in the next few hours. Not the best way to start off the week.
  • Of course, I used the good weather on Sunday to switch my outdoor power equipment back to lawn-care mode. So, I will be outside in the cold on Tuesday changing things back to the winter configuration.
  • Since it was looking more like spring, I ordered some new prescription glasses for outdoor activities on Friday. They won’t arrive for a week or so. Hopefully this is the last blast of winter and there will be plenty of sun to try them out.
  • Taxes are due in a month. Long past time to work on them. I just haven’t had the energy to start on such a depressing task whenever I happen to think about it. Hopefully next weekend.

Monday Monologue #227

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I’ve discover that I don’t really mind working out on an indoor rowing machine. It’s obviously not as fun as being on the water. But it’s not as boring as monotonous as I thought it would be.
  • I didn’t take long to get use to my new glasses. Probably because my old ones weren’t the correct prescription any more. Amazingly, my prescription still changes every year.
  • I’m starting to look for a new music player for my phone since my current one doesn’t have an easy way to arrange play lists. Drag and drop isn’t very useful once you have a lot of songs.
  • It’s been a long time since we’ve had a bright sunny day. I know that’s what happens in the winter around here; but I would still love to feel the sun.

Monday Monologue #225

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • Unlike some people (including The Wife), I did not get today off. I’ll certainly take some vacation this spring. Memorial Day is a long way away.
  • I’m not a fan of either team; but last Monday’s college championship was definitely entertaining. The NFL games were a somewhat better too; but there have been a lot of one-sided games this post season.
  • I was sick for over two weeks; but I’m finally starting to feel mostly like myself. I generally don’t get sick very often so I’m really hoping to be healthy for the rest of the winter.
  • It’s supposed to be warmer than average around here for at least the next week or so. I’m sure it will still be dark and rainy; but that’s still much better than snow and ice.

Monday Monologue #177

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • Unlike The Wife, I did NOT have today off. In fact, I had more work than usual since we were short-handed despite being one of the unlucky ones who had to work over the weekend.
  • Office 2016 is a minor but still useful improve over Office 2013. Of course it would be a lot better if it supported the Live Tiles feature of Windows 10. But, I do like how each application has a different predominant color theme.
  • The unseasonably warm winter that we had last month has become a distant memory. Now it’s either snowing or freezing cold or both. I’m very tired of dreary winter days. At least February is half over.
  • Hoping to schedule opening our swimming pool sometime soon. Having a definite date makes warm weather closer even if our appointment is months away and the cover is still completely buried in snow.

Monday Monologue #174

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I was doing a good job of not getting the winter blues until the latest blast of cold air hit. It’s also windy so it seems even colder. Thankfully, the big winter storm passed by to the east of us.
  • It’s already the last week in January and I have only received a few of my tax documents in the mail. Kinda frustrating since The Wife already has most if not all of the forms she needs. It’s been a long time since I worked for a company that was prompt. I’d be annoyed if I was expecting a refund.
  • I’ve been working out a lot on the new adaptive motion trainer they have at the gym we go to during cold weather. I really would like to buy one for home; but they are super expensive. Especially considering that we wouldn’t use an exercise machine during the summer.
  • I still haven’t identified why our computer sometimes hangs when logging off. I’ve searched online; but haven’t found anything useful. I’m sure I’ll find out what’s causing it sooner or later; but, right now, it’s a nuisance. Luckily, our new computer restarts quickly.

Monday Monologue #160

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The pool is closed. We knew it was coming and hadn’t been in the water in weeks; but having it coved up is still slight depressing. “Six months away” still sounds like a long time.
  • We’re dog sitting this week; but it look like the end is in sight. The exact date is still unknown; but it should be next month sometime. The dog has been here a LOT longer than originally planned.
  • Today was much, much warmer than the weekend. I know it doesn’t always happen; but it really does seem line the weather is much better when we’re stuck inside working.
  • It’s still a couple of weeks away; but we’re really not looking forward to the time change. It will basically mean the end of rowing during the week when we’re finished with work even if the weather is warm. So, for us, it’s really the start of winter.

Wednesday Weirdness #74

Baseball season is around the corner even though its only 7°F outside. I know that the teams are training in Arizona and Florida; but, that won’t magically make it warmer when they came back north in a few weeks. The way this year has been going, there will probably still be snow on the ground. It was warm for a day or so this past weekend; but this endless winter just won’t go away. And spring sports still seem very far away.

Monday Monologue #74

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I purchased some new music for the first time since before the holidays. I never noticed until a few days ago; but, for some reason, I don’t add to my media library when it’s cold. And conversely, I tend to but more music when it’s hot.
  • The neighbor’s cat is really starting to get annoying. It’s always seems to do its business our yard; mostly because it’s been unsuccessfully trying to catch the rabbit(s) that live in our back yard. I’m not OK with either. The rabbit is harmless and reminds us of one that used to live under a tree at our first house. And the cat poops a lot. We’d really gotten used to not having neighbors on either side.
  • We’ve got a lot of things going on this week so we decided to have our photo session today. We haven’t yet reviewed the pictures and decided which ones we want to post but; hopefully, we should do so sooner rather than later, depending upon how much editing is required.
  • I determined why our Eye-Fi card didn’t want to download photographs. For some unknown reason, it completely lost all its settings, including when to download pictures automatically and where to save them. It started working again once I fixed the configuration. Our next camera is going to have built in wireless so it won’t be so finicky.
