Monday Monologue #233

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The way the weather in March is going, we may end up having rowed more in February. Like much of the country, a BIG snowstorm is on the way. We know it’s going to snow. The only question is how much.
  • We usually keep our boat inside over the winter; but, because of the unusual weather, we’ve already moved it outside and prepared it for the season. It will be fine; but, it will be strange seeing it covered in snow.
  • I’m not fully recovered yet; but I feel better than I have in weeks. I’m not sure why I’ve been unable to completely regenerate. I’m really looking forward to the day when I have my normal/full complement of energy. Hopefully it will be soon.
  • If it wasn’t covered with snow, I would probably need to cut the grass. Partly because I like to keep it long over the winter; and partly because its already started to grow again. It’s not growing like it does in May. But it’s not brown and dormant any more either.

Monday Monologue #230

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I was/am still sick; but The Wife and I rowed on Saturday. It’s not very often that we would be able to row in February, so we wanted to make the most of the most of the warm weather.
  • We had a few customizations done to our boat over the winter and it looks amazing. We row it all the time so it gets used; but it’s still a sharp looking piece of equipment.
  • It wasn’t quite warm enough today so we went to the park and ran. It was fabulous wearing shorts and a T-shirt during an outdoor workout this time of year.
  • The weather was so nice that even cleaning the oven over the weekend didn’t seem like much of a chore. We could certainly get used to 60-degree weather in February.

Monday Monologue #229

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The weather is starting to get colder again. But. This weekend was divine. Temperatures on Saturday were in the 60’s. A rare treat for February.
  • I had to work three hours late today. I’ve certainly worked later; but that’s not the way to start the week. Hopefully the rest of the week will be better.
  • The Wife and I do not have any big plans for St. Valentine’s Day. For us it is just a regular Tuesday. We focus more on individual “holidays” like birthdays and anniversaries.
  • I’m starting to get sick again. Not like I was back in January. But, I’m still not quite my usual self. Hopefully it’ll recover much quicker this time.

Monday Monologue #228

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The game yesterday was “interesting”. It was a great comeback and an even bigger choke. This has been the year of teams blowing huge leads in the championship game/series of American professional sports.
  • It was 60-degrees this afternoon. It’s supposed to be warm tomorrow and then possibly snow on Wednesday. Wacky weather seems to be normal this year.
  • The Wife and I will probably be watching a lot more videos now that football is over and we’re into the doldrums of winter. The regular season just isn’t as interesting; especially for sports that play a lot of games. Hard for a single game to be “big” when there are still so many left to play.
  • It’s still months away; but we hope to have our pool opening date scheduled soon. Having a specific date makes the winter seem a bit shorter.

Monday Monologue #226

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • We got out and ran in the park on Saturday in shorts and spring-weight shirts. We don’t often have the opportunity to do that in January. Usually we’re stuck working out inside.
  • Since the NFL games weren’t very entertaining on Sunday, we watched some Blu-Rays instead. It’s always having a few movies in our library that we haven’t watched.
  • Since I started buying musing from Amazon, iTunes updates are starting to be really annoying. Especially since they require a reboot to install features and functions that we never use.
  • I am tired of all the rain that we’ve been having. It’s much better than snow. But I would really like to see the sun.

Monday Monologue #223

  • Happy New Year! We hope that 2017 is the best ever for everyone.
  • I’m still sick with whatever I got on Friday. In the good news/bad news category I’m going back to work tomorrow so being sick won’t spoil my vacation.
  • I was kinda droopy today (since I’m sick); but still went to the park and ran with The Wife since it was 50-degrees outside which is very rare for January. Of course, it’s supposed to be single digits again before the end of the week. And snow is on the way.
  • Since I hand write few things these days, I wasn’t conditioned to always date things 2016 and didn’t accidentally write the wrong date on anything today.

Monday Monologue #222

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • Merry Christmas! We know it’s a day late; but, since we’re having our Christmas celebration today, it seems fitting to wish everyone merry Christmas.
  • For us, it wasn’t a problem; but the datacenter our server is in was offline due to network issues (again) over the weekend. This blog is just a fun hobby for us. So, the lost uptime isn’t catastrophic.
  • It was almost 70-degrees today. I’m sure that winter will return shortly; but it was nice to run outside in shorts and a lightweight shirt.
  • The Wife and I went out for dinner on Christmas since it was just us. Not something that we would want to do every year; but it was still a good evening. It was definitely more crowded that we expected.

Wednesday Weirdness #221

After all the near-zero temperatures last week, it was 40-degrees today! The weather around here is certainly very changeable. It was still dark and dreary; but nonetheless a better way to start the winter than dark, dreary and bitter cold. Especially since we’re on vacation and didn’t have to go anywhere.

Monday Monologue #221

  • I’ve done a lot of Christmas shopping without leaving home. There are always a few things which I purchase a local store; but I’m buying more and more online. The retail shopping experience has really changed in the age of the internet.
  • It was nice not having to go to work today. Instead of a typical hectic Monday, I enjoyed a day without much to do. Work is becoming in a distant memory.
  • I went to Sears exchanged the socket that I broke last week when I was working on one of our cars. The store wasn’t very crowded which was good for me; but it’s probably not a good sign for them. Especially considering how crowded the mall parking lot was.
  • It’s cold outside! If this is what December is like, I don’t even want to think about January and February. It was finally warm enough to go to the car wash which is good since my car was covered with road salt. The water that didn’t get dried off still froze on the way home; but, at least the car wash was open.

Wednesday Weirdness #220

It was 3-degrees when I woke up this morning which made me “glad” that I’ve partly given up on the unheated gym that I’m a long-time customer at, and made alternate arrangements for my workouts. I’ll likely go back when the weather is consistently warmer; but, I just haven’t been getting as good wintertime workouts as I would like. I have sympathy for the owner since the lack of heat is beyond his control. But, not that much.
