Friday Featurette #26

The Wife getting dressed after our photo sessionWe finally had a “warm” day on Thursday so I decided to fix the car yesterday rather than wait for the weekend. I’ve got a cut on my finger in addition to the normal bumps and scrapes; but the vehicle is fixed. (At least as well as anything which has an intermittent flaw can be.) So this will be a weekend of relaxation and recuperation. I may do some blogging; but, my cut finger makes it hard to type. Have a great weekend. See you on the other side.

Wednesday Weirdness #26

I received a postcard in the mail notifying me that the rebase submission for an item that I purchased a few weeks ago was rejected because I did not send the original sales receipt. I mailed a copy because the original receipt is also required for the warranty. So the choice is to keep the receipt in case I need to make a warranty claim, or resubmit it for the rebate and forgo the ability to make a warranty claim. Needless to say I won’t be buying anything from them ever again. Who does things like that?

Monday Monologue #26

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I totally smashed my thumb when I was working on the car on Saturday. It’s always “operator error”; but that doesn’t make my thumb feel any better. And, for several other reasons the car is still not fixed. At least I know what the problem is. Hopefully it will be warm enough to finish working on it sometime soon.
  • It was almost 50°F on Saturday then we had HUGE snowstorm that began on Sunday morning and carried over until today. Weird; even for the strange early spring weather that we seem to have around here.
  • I mailed our tax returns today. Usually, we wait until the last day; but I made a “mistake” in my calculations/assumptions so we will be getting a refund. We don’t enjoy paying (who does); but we prefer writing a check to waiting forever for a refund.
  • I don’t understand all of the people who are mad at Google for discontinuing Reader. It was useful; but it was also free and with “free” cloud-based products, you get what you get. The internet is forever; but the same cannot be said about on-line software. Google’s graveyard is actually quite large.

Friday Featurette #25

The Wife bottomless on the bed waiting for The Husband with flavored lubricantThe car broke down on Wednesday and then I got really, really wet working on a plumbing project on Thursday so we are very happy to see the weekend arrive. I’ve got things to fix again; but Saturday is supposed to be “warm”.

Here is one of my favorite views — The Wife sitting bottomless on the bed on holding a tube of her favorite flavored lubricant. A great way to begin the weekend.

Wednesday Weirdness #25

Nothing else that has happened to us this week is as “interesting” as the near mishap we had during our photo session that I mentioned in the last post. I’m sure we wouldn’t be the first people that something like that has happened to; but, if we do have an “accident” we hope it’s because of a never before encountered malfunction rather than a simple oversight.

Monday Monologue #25

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I didn’t realize it when I did it (obviously); but I inadvertently set up our mail server to aggressively filter spam. It was eating anything that was remotely commercial, even the order conformation for the pizza we ordered online! I’ve definitely learned my lesson about making configuration changes before I’ve fully adjusted to the time change and am not as alert as normal.
  • I don’t think about it much, but, oftentimes I spar (box) against guys who are much larger and much heavier than I am. It’s an interesting observation on my personality. I’m not typically sore or achy the next day, so, presumably, I must be doing OK.
  • We noticed that it was kinda smoky in the kitchen after dinner so I cleaned the oven on Sunday. It was cold and over cast outside so it wasn’t the best day to open windows; but, it’s a TITANIC nuisance if we set off the smoke alarms.
  • The wacky weather we have been having has continued. It was in the 50s on Saturday. Then Sunday was below freezing (32°F) most of the day. And the high temperature for today is forecast near 50. We are so ready for sunny, spring weather.
