Monday Monologue #29

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I mailed the last of our tax returns on my way to work today. We like to keep our cash for as long as we can so we never file early. Some people like getting “unexpected” refunds; but we prefer not to overpay and waiting forever for the government to issue a refund.
  • I cut the grass today for the first time this spring. The lawn mower sputtered quite a bit and wasn’t running nearly as strong as it was when it was new. I’m undecided whether to give it a tune up, change the oil and sharpen the blade or just replace it. It’s a cheap push mower so there isn’t much difference cost wise.
  • I got an email from “customer service” of the rebate center for a rebate that I am waiting for informing me that supplying the additional information that was requested on a post card they mailed me will delay my rebate an additional 4 – 6 weeks. Who pays someone to aggravate their customers? I estimate I will finally receive the gift card 4 months after sent first in the form.
  • Our deepest sympathies to the people affected by the events today in Boston.

Friday Featurette #28

The Wife with a tube of lube sitting on the bed waiting for The Husband
It’s been a long week at work. I am so ready for the weekend. In the end, I completed everything that I needed to get done; but it was quite a struggle. And, I got soaked by the rain on Thursday when I was finishing some work I was doing outside. But, the good thing is I don’t have to do it on Saturday when the temperatures are 30-degrees colder. It’s completely unrelated; but, there isn’t a better image to ring in the weekend than The Wife on the bed with a tube of lube. Have a GREAT weekend. I know that I will.

Wednesday Weirdness #28

I saw a really rude person driving the wrong way down a one way street on Tuesday. I could tell by the numerous places they passed to turn around or get out of the way of oncoming traffic that they were doing it on purpose. The direction of travel is clearly marked and impossible to miss. The just didn’t care even though it was in the middle of the evening drive home. Sometimes, I wonder what makes people think they own the world.

Monday Monologue #28

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • Even though I’ve been doing it for a while, I’m still improving at sparring (boxing). Like a lot of things, sports and otherwise, the more I learn, the more I discover that I don’t know.
  • The thumb that I smashed a couple of weeks ago is still tender. I don’t think anything is broken; but, compared to previous unfortunate incidents with hand tools, its taking a long time to heal.
  • The email spam filter I set up is working really, really well. It’s almost completely eliminated all of the spam messages that we used to get. Except in rare cases, the only spam emails I see are when I check the spam quarantine for amusement. It was a PIA to set up; but it is definitely worth it.
  • The home theater is way cool! The Wife and I had gotten out of the habit of using it to watch “regular” television since the DVR was connected to the TV in the living room. But, we also upgraded components when we got the new projector, so now we have full capability in both areas we watch TV.

Friday Featurette #27

The Wife picking up clothes in the bedroom Other than tinkering in the home theater, I didn’t have to fix anything this past week. And, recently at least, a week that nothing new breaks and nothing that was already broken still needs fixing is a good week. Plus we’re finally supposed to have truly “spring-like” weather. So the weekend is looking good! Have a great weekend. No blogging for us; but we’ll be back at it early next week.

Wednesday Weirdness #27

You may not be able to tell from the photographs that we posted yesterday; but we have a nicer couch in the home theater in basement than we do in our living room. It wasn’t planned that way; but, all of the stuff down there is newer. So, we also have more photograph of us doing “other things” there as well. It’s almost like our bedroom was for the bedroom. Definitely a more popular room than any on the main floor.
