Wednesday Weirdness #44

We had to call the IRS about a missing payment. They acknowledged that they received it; but “had problems processing it”. They didn’t have any problem cashing the check. Yet they somehow still mangled to send us a letter which was totally inaccurate (and this precipitated the call). I think it’s all resolved no; but the whole experience definitely was not confidence inspiring.

Monday Monologue #44

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • When I was towing a rented trailer this past weekend, some people were tailgating me VERY closely. I’m sure I wasn’t going fast enough for them and they wanted me to change lanes. But, I can’t see them when they’re that close. So I was probably in there way longer than if they had backed off a bit.
  • Except when we are at a gas pump, our SUV is very useful. We keep our vehicles for a long, long time so our decision making process when purchasing a new vehicle is different than most people. But, we still think things like remote unlock are way cool.
  • Being micro-managed at work seems to be a permanent thing. It’s frustrating until I come home and see the reasons why I work. I definitely lucked out all those years ago.
  • We haven’t regularly visited anyone’s blog in what seems like ages. That’s kinda unusual; but we’ve been quite busy this summer even for us. Good times. A lot of “best thing ever” days.

Friday Featurette #43

The Wife standing naked in front of the mirror drying her hairHard to believe that today is the last Friday in July. Where has the summer gone? We’ve got another super-busy weekend ahead. The Wife and I are well organized; but, sometimes, that isn’t enough. We are NOT looking forward to the time when we don’t have anything to do over the weekend. So, these are the best of times, even though it would be nice to occasionally be slightly less busy.

Traditional Thursday #43

The Wife in the bathroom inserting her diaphragmToday, we are posting another candid photo from our last photo session. It was totally unplanned; but we really liked how the lights in the background framed the shot. This image is definitely in the “a picture is worth a thousand words” category. And, of course, The Wife putting in her diaphragm is always good.

Wednesday Weirdness #43

Several times in the past few days, I’ve seen people fishing old cigarette butts out of the gutter. I know that smokes are expensive; but I don’t quite see the point of picking up something with only a few puffs left that’s been lying in the street for who know how long. They must have a HUGE nicotine craving.

Monday Monologue #43

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The Wife and I are both developing a distinct “rower’s tan” from the clothes we wear while rowing. We would much rather have a more even tan from being in the pool; but the weather hasn’t cooperated. It’s good that we learned how to row so that we have something else to do and aren’t irritated that we haven’t had as much sun as usual this summer.
  • The new spam filter I set up and configured a while ago is catching almost all of the spam that was getting past the old one. Now that it’s not an aggravation it’s kinda fun to review the messages that were quarantined before we get rid of them. It amazes us that anyone ever replies.
  • Having a vehicle that can be remotely unlocked is way cool. Especially when you accidentally leave your keys in the car. Like everything else, cars are way, way better than they used to be. Our daughter has no idea what life was like before the electronic age.
  • It’s hard for us to believe that the summer is more than half over. But, we are closer to Labor Day than Memorial Day. Despite the weather, however, we’ve had some days that will be remembered as the best of times.

Friday Featurette #42

The Wife relaxing naked on the bedAfter the “party like its 1999” style weekend we had last week, it’s good to have an quiet, uncomplicated weekend with nothing but relaxation planned. We’ve mentioned before that we don’t mind being busy; since we know the days where we don’t have anything at all to do will come soon enough. But it still is nice to have some time to unwind.
