Monday Monologue #53

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • Today is Monday Monolog #53 which means that it’s been exactly a year since we started this web site. It’s hard to believe that this it’s been that long. The time has passed quickly. It will take a LONG time before we’ve had this site as one long as our other one; but, we can already envision that day.
  • The idiot clerk at the hardware store dropped our new electronic thermostat when we were checking out, mostly because she was mad for me making her get a new one out of secure storage rather than purchasing the floor display. Incidents like this make it easy to see why local stores have such high overhead costs.
  • The Bengals and the Reds both laid an egg this weekend. Hopefully they can rebound. My favorite pro soccer team lost an easily winnable game too. At least the Bucks managed to win.
  • I probably should have cut the grass this weekend; but decided to relax instead. It was cool summer so, unlike a lot of years, it is still growing fast this time of year. It’s not shaggy yet; but it’s getting there. I keep our yard well maintained; but, I am not the guy in the neighborhood who always seems to be mowing the lawn. (That guy lives two doors down from us.)

Friday Featurette #52

The Wife and The Husband getting warmed upI survived another tough week at the office. It seems that, for the moment, the dust has settled and we are not waiting for anther show to drop. There definitely have been better days. Looking very forward to the weekend.

Update: Somehow, this did not get posted when we thought it did and we were too busy to notice.

Wednesday Weirdness #52

Someone at work was making fun at me for leading the lunchtime boxing class. We like to go outside when the weather is nice and, apparently, they saw me doing mitts with some of the other students. I sometimes fill in for the regular instructor/coach when he has a conflict since the other teachers have day jobs. It’s fun (so long as I don’t get punched). Plus it’s as much of a workout for me as it is for everyone else. I’m actually a pretty good teacher so I’m mystified why he thought it was funny. Maybe he just thinks exercise instead of lunch is usual.

Monday Monologue #52

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • Our three-day weekend was great! We should plan more of them. I don’t have a lot of “extra” vacation; but, it was very relaxing, especially since the weather was hot and sunny. It’s turned colder now which made it even better.
  • Someone took the parking space that I was backing into today in a parking lot that wasn’t that crowded. I wonder why people do that; especially considering how restricted the rearward vision of our SUV is. I could have easily run into their vehicle.
  • Periodically, I have to do some work that can’t be avoided with an idiot. I work with a lot of stupid people (doesn’t everyone); but this particular individual is very frustrating. l don’t expect much; but, somehow, he falls short of my low expectations.
  • This is obviously not a sports blog; but, a “Who Dey” is definitely appropriate.

Friday Featurette #51

The Husband and The Wife on the bed enjoying the momentThis picture is up earlier than usual because The Wife and I are enjoying a three day weekend. Aside from our vacations, we only take very few days off, so we really enjoy the times when we do.

Enjoy the weekend. I know we already are.

Update: I forgot to hit publish and didn’t realize it; but we had a great weekend!

Wednesday Weirdness #51

I recently learned firsthand that some people who row pay just as much little attention when rowing as they do when they are driving. Of course, even if the boats are undamaged, a collision means one or both rowers are probably going to fall into the river. And that kinda ruins the outing. Some days, I have a lot more excitement than I would have preferred.
