It’s been a busy fall so it’s been a LONG time since we’ve been able to visit everyone’s blog. Our vacation this week had gone by quickly; but we plan on catching up over this weekend. It will definitely be a lot more fun that fighting the Black Friday crowds.
P.S. We plan on getting all the way to the bottom of our FB news feed too.
The Bucks have a big game this weekend against “that team up north”. So The Wife and I thought today is a good occasion to show our team spirit. I really hope they win since I work with more than one … Continue reading →
Today is the last workday at the company for a few of my coworkers. With all of the upheaval that we’ve had recently, it seems like everybody is getting a new job or looking for one. We’ve even had that weird situation where the person who was shadowing a departing employee their last week or so gave THEIR notice too. We’re so busy trying to recover from all of the departures that we can’t get much of anything else done. I am very glad for a week away from all of the madness.
Even though it was snowy and dreary, The Wife and still I went running in the park. It wasn’t windy like it was over the weekend, so we had a good outdoor workout. Afterwards, we tried to enjoy the “daylight” … Continue reading →
An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).
I was so aggravated when I discovered the problem with the video player being incorrectly rendered in using Internet Explorer 11 that I totally forgot that the current version of WordPress includes a native media player that doesn’t require any plugins. I updated an older video post to use it and didn’t see any problems so I switch all replaced the player used in all of the other video posts too. It doesn’t work with IE8. But I figure anyone still using anything that ancient is probably still using Windows XP and is used to having a bunch problems including browsing the internet.
I’ve somehow become involved in a bidding war on a part I want/need on eBay. I generally avoid volatile auctions; but it’s been very difficult to find what I’m looking for; so I’m carefully following auction and increasing my bid.
The Wife and I are both on vacation this week. It’s was only a three day week anyway, so it’s a good way to take a lot away without using a lot of vacation. And a lot of my coworkers are out so the is less chance of someone breaking something and me being called in to work.
It’s snowing. Not unusual for around here for November; but still depressing.
We did not take any still photographs during this week’s photo session. So we didn’t have anything “new” to post today. Instead, we’re going to post another photo from the ones we took last week. It wouldn’t be any fun to have a blog like this if we didn’t create new content, so we rarely post old photographs, even when “older” just is a week. Here’s to the weekend and our ensuing vacation/holiday next week.
P.S. I think this is a really cute picture of The Wife. She takes GREAT photographs.
P.S. If you CAN’T see them, this week’s Tuesday Two For and Traditional Thursday posts both have videos.
If you happen to be using Internet Explorer 11, you probably noticed that videos don’t resize properly. I know I did. I don’t know what changed in the latest version; but I am sure that I’ll be VERY familiar with all of its nuances before I finally find and fix the problem. It’s actually rather annoying. Everything looked fine in IE10 which wasn’t released that long ago. I hope to fix the problem soon; but, things are going to look weird (in the latest version of IE) until then. I guess I know what I’ll be doing his weekend. Bah.
Now that we have über bandwidth preparing videos is a lot more fun. They still need to be transcoded into the correct format. But, otherwise, it’s just a matter of watching them and picking out the parts we like. It use to take a LOT of experimentation to get something of acceptable quality that wasn’t too big. Now that we don’t need to worry about file size I usually only have to do the conversion once. The process is not nearly as tedious so we try to post movies whenever we think about it. And today was one of those occasions. We hope you like the result.
P.S. This video does have better lighting than the last one.
An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).
A coworker who was younger than I am passed away last week. It was a sobering reminder of how fragile and fleeting life is. I remember when he got married. And now his wife is a widow in just a few years. Sometimes, with all of the annoyances of daily life, it’s easy to forget how good we have it.
The fan on the case to our computer burned out and the CPU started getting too hot and setting off a strange sounding alarm from the speaker on the motherboard. It took us a little while to figure out where the noise was coming from and what was happening. And then we had to drive to a store 40-miles to get a new one. The internet is making all but the most common items difficult to find in local stores.
I saw a TALL cross-dresser when I was out and about today at lunch. Besides their height, the razor bumps underneath their makeup made it clear they weren’t just a tall woman. I see some interesting sights working downtown. Most of which are a lot better than almost being run over by a car.
Although I’ve sent sever emails to my superiors at work; nobody has been assigned to help on the project I’m working on. I did get an email from one person (in another facility) who volunteered to help when they weren’t busy with another project. That’s no help at all. Who isn’t perpetually; busy in these days of corporate downsizing? And I haven’t heard anything from thing since. I know I’m really just playing office politics which I HATE.
