Wednesday Weirdness #81

Yesterday just seemed like a normal day at the Post Office. Not at all like days past when there where HUGE lines of people waiting until the last minute to mail their tax returns. I guess that the “rush” has moved online like everything else. Times have certainly changed. I wonder how long before electronic filing will be required?

Tuesday Two For #81

We had hoped to be able to take some outside photographs this week; but, the weather did not cooperate. In fact, it was quite contrary. Even though it’s mid-April, there was an accumulation of snow on the ground when we woke up. Enough so that, if you park outside, you had to clean off your car. It seemed strangely fitting since today is also tax day. So, we decided to stay inside and make a video. We think that’s a great way to end a strange day on a good note.

Monday Monologue #81

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I cut the grass for the first time of the season over the weekend and The Wife did some yard work. It was great to finally be able to get out and enjoy the weather. Our air conditioner even ran for a bit. It might be slight premature; but we changed the thermostat to our summer program.
  • It was 80°F yesterday; but it’s supposed to snow tomorrow. I almost expected the last gasp of winter to be on tax day. I’ve got the envelopes containing the tax returns ready to go. All I have to do is mail them on Tuesday.
  • I’ve determined that the androgynous person at work is a woman. I don’t think that she is aware of how masculine she looks. We all have flaws. But being mistake for someone of the opposite sex is easily preventable/fixable.
  • Looking very forward to the opening of our pool later this week. It takes a few days for the water to clear up, and the weather will be still too cold to swim when the water is clean. But it’s a nice vista out our back windows.
  • It’s only been a few days and there’s already an update to the update for WordPress that I installed last week. Mistakes are much easier to make when you’ve added a bunch of fringe features to your software. If it wasn’t FOSS I’d be a lot more aggravated.

Friday Featurette #80

The Husband and The Wife holding hands relaxing on the bedEarlier this week, when I was in the one shower in the building after my lunch time workout, someone stared banging on the door telling me to hurry up. For some stage reason, even though there are other bathrooms with benches, hooks, etc., they had decided to use the shower closet as a changing room. So, I was in their way; even though I was there before they were, and didn’t have anywhere else to go. Some people are just jerks. Anyway, I’m glad for a few days away from my office.

Hopefully there will be more of this for me in the near future. Have a great weekend!

Wednesday Weirdness #80

Someone I sent an email to replied asking a question about something that was clearly stated in the initial message I sent. I know that they didn’t read the entire email I sent or they wouldn’t have been asking the question. I would think it would take more energy and effort to compose a reply, even a brief one, than to read a few extra sentences. But, apparently, that’s not the case for them. In my response, I politely told them to re-read my original email; but I really wanted to say something else.

Monday Monologue #80

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The wife and I went showrooming over the weekend. That wasn’t our predetermined intent. But local all retailers weren’t remotely price competitive. I like to support local business. But not when the price difference is 10 – 15%.
  • It’s been a process adjusting to the realization that we’ll be continuous empty nesters in few months. But it’s very easy getting used to the idea that we’ll have “extra” money. The days that we deferred buying many things for ourselves to is almost here.
  • Someone at work is so androgynous that I’m not sure if they are male or female. Always wears pants and polo shirts. Medium length hair. Moobs or boobs. Nothing particularly telltale. I’m wonder if that’s purposefully their style or if they don’t know how ambiguous they look.
  • I’m don’t think either team playing in the big game tonight is representative of CBB. I’ll probably watch some of the game but I won’t be “rooting” for anyone.

Friday Featurette #79

The Husband and The Wife holding hands relaxing on the bedNow that it’s finally spring, The Wife and I are “jonesing” for some shiny new things. Right now, a new washer and dryer are at the top of the list. I’ve kept our current set going for a long time. But, they are both still kinda noisy in her old age. And we would like something better suited to the workout gear that we wear so much of. Or lifestyle has changed a lot in 16 years. Of course, there are still a few constants.

Have a great weekend.
