Monday Monologue #92

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • Today is the first day of my vacation and I’ve already received several “I know you are on vacation; but …” emails. And, like always they weren’t urgent. The author just didn’t respect my time away. Of course I do like to protect my vacation so I didn’t respond.
  • We got new smartphones today. They’ve really improved in the last two years. Nothing revolutionary; but a lot of small evolutionary improvements. It was a bit of a nuisance since we also changed carriers so I was in the store a LONG time.
  • The Wife is a kinda gadget person even though she doesn’t think of herself that way. Mostly because I’m an ultra-gadget person so getting useful technological things is often a topic of conversation. She always does a lot of customizations. Her phone certainly doesn’t look like it did when it came home from the store.
  • We rowed while it was still overcast AND got it the pool when the sun came out. So, today was a perfect summer day. Hopefully there will be any more days like this to come.

Friday Featurette #91

The Husband and The Wife enjoying a moment together on a rainy summer eveningWe are on vacation! It’s been a while since we’ve been able to say that. (And will probably be awhile before we can say it again.) So we are going to enjoy it. We’ve got no place we have to be and nothing to do but relax and enjoy ourselves. We’re staying home so we’ll still be posting (when we’re not in the pool). Looking forward to enjoying the burning sun if it doesn’t rain.

Wednesday Weirdness #91

On Monday and Tuesday both, the sun was shining in the middle of a ferocious thunderstorm. I know it happens; but it was still really weird. And, of course, very frustrating when your two main things to outside during the summer are rowing and swimming. After this past winter, we’re trying not to complaining about anything weather-related this summer; but, it we are really hoping for a prolonged period of burning sun.

Tuesday Two For #91

Despite the fact that the Team USA is not considered among the elite, The Wife and I are big fans of the World Cup. In some ways, watching a sport where the US is NOT the favorite is more interesting. Especially if they advance to the next round. We’ve got some spirit wear in our closet that we will definitely be wearing. And likely featuring in a photo post as well.

Today we decided to pick a few pictures where The Wife is handing the merchandise which is a great way to get warmed up for the next big game.

Monday Monologue #91

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The Wife got a bit of sunburn on her butt on Sunday even though it was kinda cloudy when we were in the pool. We weren’t outside too long so it’s not too bad.
  • Our next door neighbor installed a pool last year. It wasn’t a “keeping up with the Joneses” sort of thing, they get it even more than we a get in ours. But, it is slightly larger than the one we have and ours is big.
  • We’ve been doing a lot of reorganizing in and around the house. It’s amazing how fast things accumulate. We’re surrounded by “useful” things that we’re never going to use again and are just taking up space.
  • And, “Go U.S.A.” A bad few seconds at the end of the game now means 90 more minutes of hard work. But, at least they are still alive, unlike a lot of other teams.

Friday Featurette #90

The Wife sitting on the bed waiting for The Husband with candy cane flavored lubricantWe did not go rowing today because of the rain/flooding we’ve been having in the area. It might seem strange to many people; but, we like to get out on the water on warm Friday evenings in the summer, even when we have plans for the weekend. For us, it’s a good way to relax and begin the weekend and it doesn’t get in the way of other things. And, most people are already busy enjoying their Friday so we often have the river to ourselves. And now that summer is here, there is still plenty of daylight when we’re finished. Plus it’s a good prelude to other things.

Have a great weekend!

Wednesday Weirdness #90

After six months of using a shower in a closet of a bathroom, we finally have access to a locker room/fitness center again at work. Work crews are still adding the finishing touches; but, it’s much better than the one shower that never was cleaned in the back of an old bathroom. It doesn’t bother me; but the changing area, both lockers and seating, is CLEARLY visible to anyone on main floor who happens to be looking whenever someone opens the door. There is a wall for “privacy”; but it doesn’t blocks the view from an angle. There are going to be some surprised accidental voyeurs and/or exhibitionists. It won’t bother me, as you can probably assume from this site; but it’s definitely an architectural fail.
