Monday Monologue #144

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I upgraded to the 64-bit version of Windows in preparation for Windows 10. It’s good to get our computers cleaned up. I should have refreshed (reinstalled) the OS long ago. There was a LOT of software I didn’t really need any more.
  • It rained most of the day today. Needless to say, we did not row or get in the pool. But we did have a good run on the park during a break in the rain.
  • It’s really nice being off from work. We’re “understaffed”, so I’ve been overworked for months and a lot of stuff is probably piling up in my absence. There will probably be some long days to catch up next week. But, I’m not even thinking about that right now.
  • Trying to decide what to get both of the kids for their birthdays. They’ve already got a lot of sort of things I like to buy as gifts. They’re not hard to buy for. I just like to give presents that are both useful and fun.

Friday Featurette #143

The Wife sucking The Husband's dickThe Wife and I are on our 4th of July vacation next week so posts may be more intermittent than usual. Like all of our Independence Day vacations, we’re staying at home. Hopefully, we’ll have good weather to get in the pool and row on the river. And, most importantly, we will be far from work. Have a great weekend! See you on the other side.

Wednesday Weirdness #143

One of my neighbors cuts his grass twice a week no matter how fast it grows. Sometimes, it’s almost exactly the same height as it was before. I can understand not wanting to let it get too tall; but, he’s just putting extra stress on it. Especially when it’s dry and hot. He may be doing it for the exercise. He should probably go for a walk instead.

Monday Monologue #143

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • After a relatively dry spring it rained a LOT last week. The water has been too high to row for days and days. And our swimming pool almost overflowed. It finally cleared today so we were able to get in the pool. Hopefully we will be rowing soon too.
  • A replacement ice bucket for our ice maker is almost $70. Another case where replacement parts for “luxury” items are extremely expensive. And, unfortunately, I have to get a new one since the one came apart from the base and I dropped ice all over the floor the last time I was unclogging the dispenser.
  • I figured out what the problem was with the spam filter so now spam has returned to “normal” levels. We still get as much of it as before. Just a lot more of it is being caught. So we don’t have to look at it.
  • The “temporary” dog has generally been well behaved. But, she still sometimes barks at things see sees outside. I know that’s what dogs do. And it’s a not as bad as cleaning up after accidents. But it’s still a disruption.

Wednesday Weirdness #142

There’s been a hiccup in our spam filter recently that I haven’t yet identified the root cause of so we’ve been receiving a lot of spam in our inboxes. It isn’t particularly imaginative. I’m surprised that anyone would actually respond. I know they only need a few clicks to make it “worthwhile”; but I certainly wouldn’t categorize the emails as enticing. To us it’s just in the way. It really makes me wonder who does reply.
