Friday Featurette #161

The wife relaxing naked on the bedIt was too cold and windy to row today. It’s supposed to be warm next week. But, we won’t have many more days after the upcoming time change. We don’t mind the winter (and actually kinda like the change of seasons). We just enjoy warm weather a lot more. So, we’re really hoping to enjoy the Indian summer. If we don’t post much next week, you know were outside.

Have a great weekend.

Wednesday Weirdness #161

I happened to glance at my agenda for tomorrow on my phone when I was switching to month view in the calendar app when I noticed that I’m scheduled or FIVE meetings. I wonder how I’m supposed to get anything done. I’ve got no free time to do any actual work. Sometimes I feel like I’m working in Dilbert’s world.

Tuesday Two For #161

The Husband and The Wife getting ready for the main eventWe’re still at the very early stages; but The Wife and I are jonesing for a new car. We love our gigantic SUVs; but, really would like a newer sedan than the one we have now. We’re not going through another winter without getting something more comfortable and reliable in cold weather. We just need to decide when the “best” time is. We haven’t decided on the timing yet; but, it’s definitely going to be “soon”.

Monday Monologue #161

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • We’ve always called ourselves “beginning rowers” since we started a few years ago. But, now that we have our own boat, that description probably inaccurate. We may not be experts; but we’re definitely serious.
  • I had a 75-minute meeting at work today that should have lasted less than 10. Nobody said anything new. We spent most of the time highlighting and resending previous emails that the organizer either ignored or didn’t understand. To say I was annoyed was an understatement.
  • After being well behaved for a long time, the “temporary” dog has turned into a yapping machine. We’re not sure why; but, we’ll be glad when it stops. Or, more likely, when she moves out.
  • The World Series starts tomorrow (I think). I used to be an avid baseball fan. Now I barely follow the sport. I know what teams are playing but not much more than that.

Friday Featurette #160

The Husband and The Wife together on warm fall eveningWe’re road warriors this weekend. We don’t take as many road trips as we once did; but, we still travel enough to make our gigantic SUV worthwhile. We really haven’t slowed much down since the kids graduated college. We’ve just been spending our time doing the things that we didn’t have time to do before. Being able to focus more on ourselves has been a change. But it’s all been good.

Have great weekend.

Wednesday Weirdness #160

At work yesterday I actually received an email that said: “I know I should have told you last week and somehow forgot to mention it in any of the many conversations we’ve had since then; but we need this (big huge task) by done by Friday. Is there any way you can still get it done (so I don’t look totally irresponsible)?” I was polite and factual in my reply; but there were a lot of things that I wanted to say. And “yes, no problem” was not among them.

Monday Monologue #160

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The pool is closed. We knew it was coming and hadn’t been in the water in weeks; but having it coved up is still slight depressing. “Six months away” still sounds like a long time.
  • We’re dog sitting this week; but it look like the end is in sight. The exact date is still unknown; but it should be next month sometime. The dog has been here a LOT longer than originally planned.
  • Today was much, much warmer than the weekend. I know it doesn’t always happen; but it really does seem line the weather is much better when we’re stuck inside working.
  • It’s still a couple of weeks away; but we’re really not looking forward to the time change. It will basically mean the end of rowing during the week when we’re finished with work even if the weather is warm. So, for us, it’s really the start of winter.
