Monday Monologue #164

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • We’ve finally started the process of resettling the “temporary” dog (and her primarily human). I actually feel kinda sorry for her since she’s so used to being around a family and will be spending more time alone. But it’s way past time for her to move on.
  • We rowed for what may be the final time of the year on Sunday. It was a spectacular warm fall afternoon. Warm weather is forecast again later this week; but, it’s also supposed to rain.
  • I got my SUV back from the shop. They did a good job. Of course that also meant I did the all the driving and hauling over the weekend and most of the heavy lifting moving the “temporary” dog owner’s stuff. And there was a LOT of it.
  • Now that the rowing season is ending, I think I’m going to get back into boxing/sparring. I enjoy the challenge; probably because I’m mostly able to avoid being hit. I’m not sure it would be fun if I wasn’t good at avoiding punches.

Traditional Thursday #163

Yesterday was a glorious day to go rowing, perhaps the last good one of the year. We got on the water early and had a great row. Then we followed up a great day outside with a good night inside. Good days in the month of November don’t come around too often. So, we made sure to enjoy it as much as possible.

Wednesday Weirdness #163

They called to tell me my car was ready just before 5PM. Of course there no way that I could get to the shop in a few minutes. I’m not in a rush; but, I would have been kinda mad if I was. Why even call that late in the day when it’s obvious that it’s something that will have to wait until tomorrow? I just hope they did a good job.

Tuesday Two For #163

The Wife and I are getting back into the groove after last week’s mini-vacation. As always, we’re thinking about things we might do differently; but we still really, really enjoyed it. I didn’t even let getting my car run into last week bother me. (Thankfully, the other guy had good insurance.) We don’t mind being on the road; but, as you can see, it’s good to be home.

Monday Monologue #163

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • We had a fabulous weekend on the road away from the (soon to not be here) temporary dog. Sometimes upscale hotels are worth the money.
  • Our SUV is in the shop getting repaired so I’m driving item #2 on our adult toy list for a few days. The turbocharger, or more specifically the acceleration it provides, is way cool.
  • It’s finally gotten cold outside now. We’ll (hopefully) be able to row for a few more times and then we’ll be done for the year. It was as good season. We really wish it wasn’t over.
  • I haven’t been in the gym for a few days and really noticed when I was workout out today. It was surprising how quickly I lost strength. I’ll be back at it hard this week.

Wednesday Weirdness #162

The automatic update feature of Windows is probably good for most people. But in my case, it always seems to restart the system at inappropriate times. Like when a full system backup is running which, of course aborts the backup. Then I have to redo the backup during the day when I’m trying to use the system. Evidently, they didn’t think about long running process scheduled to run overnight. One of the problems with the one size fits most approach to software design. And a gigantic PIA for me.

Tuesday Two For #162

Today was a gorgeous fall day. Sunny, warm and rare for November. We made sure to get out and enjoy it. But, we still had time for some indoor fun. Here is a POV video that we made after the sun went down. We hope that you like the up close and personal angle. Tomorrow is supposed to be a good day too.
