Friday Featurette #172

The Wife standing naked in front of the mirror drying her hairThe Wife standing naked in front of the mirror drying her hairHappy Friday again. We’re glad that the weened is finally here. Last week was “only” a four day work week (which seemed long after being on vacation). But this was our first “regular” week since mid-December. So, it was kinda a re-acclamation to working. And there was a LOT of work for both of us. The Wife has a three day weekend because of the Monday holiday; but I’m back at it on Monday. One more reason to relax and enjoy it.

Wednesday Weirdness #172

We had a lunchtime meeting today. I HATE meetings during my lunch break because the meals that are provided are never, ever foods I eat. And they don’t usually provide drinks. So it’s not really a lunch for me. Plus, if I want to get my customary daytime workout in, I end up getting home over an hour later than I would have otherwise. I attended because the subject was important. But it definitely wasn’t an equitable tradeoff.

Monday Monologue #172

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • Saturday was one of the darkest days in Bengals history. I’m glad we ended up watching the game on television rather than in person. Otherwise, I’ve got nothing more to say.
  • In addition to installing yet another WordPress update, I also did some software updates on the server. The changes should be transparent for visitors; but please let us know if something is not working.
  • It’s snowing and temperatures are forecast to be below zero with gusting winds tomorrow morning. I’m not sure I’ll dig out before the commute. I may just drive over the snow and wait until its warmer.
  • Really, really glad that we got a new vehicle before the winter. This is not the kind of weather that you want to break down in. Tow trucks and repair shops have huge waits.

Traditional Thursday #171

I’m starting to catch a cold and, consequently, feeling a bit droopy. But I still had enough energy to transcode a video. And I’m never too sick to make a movie. Still working on tweaking the new settings; but I think that I’m getting there. Practice makes perfect. We hope you don’t mind “work in progress” videos.

Wednesday Weirdness #171

Every year around this time, I’m amazed at how crowded the gyms I go to get. I’ve seen people who I haven’t seen around in months and, after a few more visits, probably won’t see for until for a long time. It happens every year. But, it’s still interesting to see how quickly people stop coming; even if they have paid in advance.

Tuesday Two For #171

Since the NFL playoffs are “win or go home” we thought that today would be a good time to show our sprit for our favorite professional team since their next game after this weekend may not be until next year. We’re really hoping that they’re not “one and done” like in years past. Good luck to your whatever teams you support this weekend too (unless they happen to be our favorite team’s opponent).

Monday Monologue #171

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The new computer I built is really, really fast! There is a HUGE difference in performance between it and our old one. Neither of us realized how much we had become accustomed to slow being normal.
  • We had such a GREAT vacation that we kinda dreaded going back to work. Not because work is so bad; but because our time off was so good. It was even better than we hoped.
  • It’s somewhat of an anachronism; but we still have an old style wired phone line in our house even though we all have smart phones. We’ve been having some issues off and on with it since the summer. They’re supposed to come out at look at it again tomorrow. It’s the last one. We will not be getting another landline if we move to a new home.
  • It isn’t increasing by much; but the days are slowly getting longer. It’s only January; but, comparatively speaking, it’s been a relatively mild winter. We’re hoping that the trend continues. This is about the latest I can remember that we’ve gone without any significant accumulation of snow.
