It’s over a month away; but, now that the grass has turned green, we’re looking very forward to opening our pool. Even if it’s not warm enough to swim, being able to look into the pool really brightens the back yard. Plus, since We got an early stat on the rowing season, we’re hopeful we’ll be able to get an early start on pool season too.

Wednesday Weirdness #183
I thought that our video card died again on Monday; but, fortunately it turned out to be a lose/faulty connection. I used to always have extra cables around; but technology gets obsolete so fast these days that I don’t keep as many spares since they might not be compatible with our next computer. The price for a replacement at all the local retailers ten times more expensive than comparable items online. I understand physical stores can’t be as cheap as web stores; but I really don’t get the astronomical difference in price. Local retailers are pricing themselves out of the market on technology items.
Tuesday Two For #183
We’ve been getting out and rowing (semi) regularly this week and didn’t think about our photo session beforehand so were only posting a single photo. Usually, we’re not so preoccupied. Unfortunately, it’s easy for us to get distracted by weather we can row in after early in the season after a long winter inside. We probably should have made a movie.
Monday Monologue #183
An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).
- I cut the grass on Saturday. It looks a lot better; but it took a long time since it was still a bit wet. It’s early for a first cutting; especially for me. But, unlike most years, it was not still dormant from the winter.
- We rowed on both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. The water is still cold so we were extra special careful and didn’t try to go to fast. It was glorious being out in the sunshine on the river again.
- After years of too many remotes on the coffee table, I finally got a new universal remote for the living room. It doesn’t have as many features as the one we use in the home theater; but it still allows us to eliminate “remote clutter”.
- We had a brief power outage on Sunday. Years ago, it wouldn’t have been an issue; but, nowadays, we have many devices that actually go into standby when they’re turned “off” and lose their settings when there isn’t any power at all (like during a power failure).
Friday Featurette #182
Unlike a lot of people, The Wife and I don’t take a “spring break”. Even Good Friday is a regular work day for us. So, we’re just finishing a normal week and looking forward to the weekend. Especially since my scheduled weekend activities are canceled because of Easter. Plus, we’ve finally adjusted to the time change. So the weekend is looking very hopeful. Even the weather looks promising.
Have a great Good Friday and a wonderful Easter Sunday.
Traditional Thursday #182

The weather finally cooperated and we were able to row. It’s been weeks since the weather has bene warm at the same time that river has been rowable. We’re out of practice after a winter off the water; but we’re … Continue reading
Wednesday Weirdness #182
The Wife needed to perform an urgent update on her Kindle earlier this week. I’m not surprised; everything it seems, needs some sort of update. Of course, I wonder what would be the purpose of hacking an e-reader. Needing to do patches and updates all the time is kinda annoying. I don’t want to return to the days when everything was mechanical. But some relief from the perpetual update cycle that everything seems to be caught in would be nice.
Tuesday Two For #182

We initially planned to make another movie this week; but, ultimately, decided on still photographs instead. Our camera is showing its age no matter which option we choose. It still takes good pictures. It’s just not as easy to use … Continue reading
Monday Monologue #182
An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).
- Somehow, when it wasn’t raining or snowing on Saturday, my next door neighbor cut his grass. I won’t be doing the same.
- We got some cool new accessories for out boat over the weekend. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to use them for a few days.
- I did our taxes on Sunday. We owe, as expected, but, much more than we had hoped. We’re going to be writing a BIG check next month.
- We’ve been getting a lot of virus attachments to emails recently. They get auto-deleted by our antivirus software; but, even if they didn’t we wouldn’t open them. I know it must work or they wouldn’t be sent; but, I still wonder who opens suspicious attachments in 2016.
Friday Featurette #181
Spring may be right around the corner; but winter isn’t giving up without a fight. Its supposed to be cold with a possibility of snow flurries over the weekend. Hard to believe that we were actually out rowing last week. We definitely don’t have plans to do anything outside. And, unfortunately, the team we follow is already out of the tournament. So I’m not going to OD on basketball. We’re just going to relax, watch some soccer and think about spring. We hope your teams and your brackets is doing better than ours. Have a wonderful weekend.
