Monday Monologue #212

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • We closed our pool today. The weather is warm and sunny; but it was still kinda depressing.
  • It’s still a couple of weeks away; but there will be no Halloween candy for me this year. I don’t want to need a crash diet the first week in November like I did last year.
  • The wife and I went on an evening row again today. Nowadays, it’s something fun to do; but, when we first got started, rowing in the dark was something to be avoided.
  • I’ve been ordering a lot of things on Amazon recently because it’s so much more convenient than going to the store. That seems counter intuitive until you venture into a local store and nobody knows where anything is and you have to wait in a long checkout line when you finally find what you are looking for.

Friday Featurette #211

The Wife and I were on vacation again today which was good because we’ve got another busy weekend planned. For us, busy weekends seem to be the rule rather than the exception which is (mostly) OK. The long cold winter in which we sit inside and wait for spring will soon force us to slow down. Warm sunny days in mid-October don’t come around too often. It will probably drove my neighbor nuts; but I’m not going to “waste” the great weather cutting my grass. Have a great weekend!

Traditional Thursday #211

Our summer routine that we’ve enjoyed so much has held on for another week. Sadly, nights are much colder, so we know the warm, sunny temperatures we love are almost over. We’ll be closing our pool next week and finished rowing soon after that. We can take a vacation day here and there so that we can get out in the early afternoon and still enjoy the sun. Of course, we can’t do that every day. But, today was a good day and were hoping to hang on to the summer as long as we can.

Wednesday Weirdness #211

I’m working on a project with a guy who has so little understating of technology that he can only answer my questions after I rephrase and simplify them multiple times. He can’t keep anything he reads or anything I tell him verbally in his head. He’s a “rock star” without the star. A very frustrating person to interact with!

Tuesday Two For #211

This week we’re posting videos from with the camera in an usual location. We may have used this camera angle a long time ago. But, if so, it’s been many years since we have. Lighting wasn’t a problem; however, the movie probably would have been slightly better with sunlight coming through the windows. We’ll like this perspective so we will probably use it again in the future. Hopefully we’ll remember this set up next summer when the sun is high in the sky.

Monday Monologue #211

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I barely avoided two car accidents recently. First, a car in the center lane suddenly decided to exit the highway even though I was in the right lane. They stopped at the last instant only because of a frantic beeping of the horn. Second, a car was in such a hurry to make a left turn that they were so far left of center they were totally in my lane and would have ran into me head had I not got out of the way. Not the best way to start the week.
  • It didn’t rain all week; but my next door neighbor still cut his grass after I cut mine even though he’d previously cut his at mid-week. You could barely tell that mine was shorter; but that was enough.
  • Our favorite professional football team is not looking good like now. I think that it’s going to be a long season.
  • The Wife and I had a good row this evening. Not too warm and not cool which is unusual for October. Sadly, there will not be too many more days like today.

Friday Featurette #210

The Husband and The Wife enjoying a moment togetherThe Wife and I have a quiet, relaxing weekend planned. Except for a few typical weekend errands, we will be around the house both days. Of course, the weather is supposed to turn colder especially on Saturday. Neither of us gets Monday off so it’s a regular weekend. But it will be a good opportunity to recharge the batteries and get ready for a busy rest of the month. Have a great weekend!

Wednesday Weirdness #210

I had another one of those “how could you not know that” moments with someone on Monday. I’m amazed at how totally unobservant people are. They never notice things that they have seen regularly for a long, long time. The world is a big complex place and there are a lot of distractions. But, some things are very hard to miss.
