The old-fashioned wall mount telephone in the basement was somehow off the hook today even though no one had touched it. We almost never use it so it wasn’t the first place I looked when the phone line wouldn’t work. In fact, I had already checked outside and determined that the problem was inside the house when The Wife reminded me that we had a second phone line in the basement in addition to the one in I was thinking of. We still “need” a land line; but, sometimes, it can be a lot of trouble.

Tuesday Two For #244
The computer I use for most of my tasks was misbehaving as a welcome back to work gift. I worked on it most of the day without success. I can’t do a lot of the things that I need to do until it’s working. So, my wok is piling up and I’ve already had a frustrating start to short and presumably smooth work week. Its always something; but I would have preferred smaller and easier problem.
Monday Monologue #244
An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).
- Our garbage disposal was making noise and dying (again) so I spend the first part of the holiday weekend under the kitchen sink replacing it. Definitely not the way I had planned to kick off the weekend.
- The starter on my trimmer is broken and, for some reason, the parts needed to fix it aren’t available online even though they are common repair items. So, I’ll have to take it at the “authorized service center” and leave it for what otherwise would be a very basic repair.
- The supply hose and associated fittings for the automatic chlorine feeder to our swimming pool also broke. So, the simple task of adding chlorine to the reservoir became yet another repair. That’s kinda how the weekend went.
- Even though it rained some, The Wife and I were able to row every day over the long weekend. And, for us, any warm spring day on the water is a good day. So, it was still a good weekend.

Wednesday Weirdness #243
Today I experienced an epic fail on the part of someone that will probably be irritating me for weeks since I’m the one who whose daily life will be disrupted. I’m aggravated, frustrated and angry all at the same time. A year from now it won’t be a big deal. But, for the next few weeks, I’ll be constantly inconvenienced.

Monday Monologue #243
An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).
- We had a great day of racing on Saturday. The Wife and I make a pretty good team mostly because she makes up for my deficiencies. And, we’re still improving.
- Once again, I couldn’t cut the grass along the back line. If it’s too wet, it’s too wet. But its mildly irritating have a yard that’s mostly neat except for one area.
- I had to call customer support for something today and, for once, the representative wasn’t in an off-shore call center somewhere. Unlike most of the calls I’ve made about broken items needing repair, the call was quick and painless.
- We both can’t wait for Memorial Day weekend. Just knowing that next week is a short week makes this week seem shorter.
Friday Featurette #242
The Wife and I are on the road this coming weekend. It’s supposed to be HOT where we’re going. After all the cold, wet days this spring, we’re actually kinda looking forward to it. Of course, we might not like it so well when were actually there. But, it most certainly beats the soggy, wet days that we’ve had so many of around here. And, when it’s not dumb due to malfunctioning components, our new SUV is great for road trips. Plenty of horsepower for the highway, all the latest smart car the technology, comfortable and fun to drive. It definitely makes road trips easy.

I just did yet another update to WordPress. I know it’s a good thing with all of the hacking that can happen online. But it’s a nuisance. Especially considering the extra security precautions I take that I won’t get into here. Sadly, that is today’s world. Anyway, videos still play. Please let us know if anything else is broken.
