Monday Monologue #251

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • My almost new car wouldn’t start on Saturday morning! Not the best way to start the weekend. Especially since it will be a couple of days before I can schedule an appointment.
  • I edged and trimmed everything even the occasional areas with my old electric trimmer since my gas one is still broken. Ad of course I cut the grass. So, our yard looks really nice; especially with all the rain.
  • The wife and I got in the pool both days this weekend. It was glorious. Actually, not super-hot; but the “feels like” temperature was in the 90s.
  • The data center that our mail server is in had a total network outage on today. We were disconnected for several hours today. And its only Monday.

Friday Featurette #250

The Husband on top of The Wife with her legs togetherWe haven’t thought much about it since we’ve still been able to row a lot; but it’s been a wet summer and the river has been higher than normal. For us, there are only two water levels. Too high row and not too high to row. But, there have been a lot of days where it’s been almost too high. Today was one of those. But we were on the water so it was a good row. Have a great weekend.

Traditional Thursday #250

The Husband on top of The Wife with her legs in the airNo good sound on video yet so here is a photograph while we work on things. We also need to investigate newer and better equipment. Of course, we had yet another power outage this week so I’m starting to think our next big purchase may need to be a backup generator. Rainy days when the ground is saturated and we don’t have electricity to run our sump pump are starting to worry me. Especially since our basement is finished and carpeted.

Wednesday Weirdness #250

It was 90-degrees with 95-percent humidity today. Most people can’t stand weather like this; but I like it. It’s much preferred to the winter. I long for days like today in January and February when every day is cold and dreary and the sun is a distant memory.

Tuesday Two For #250

We are still investigating the audio problem with our videos. Sound seems to be better equalized when the microphone is farther away from the sources. So, the next thing to try is repositioning the camera and use the zoom. Hopefully we’ll find a solution sooner rather than later. Meanwhile here is one if our test videos.

Monday Monologue #250

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The Temporary Dog and her owner were home this weekend. The dog still remembered how to swim which is always one of my worries and was well behaved except for barking out the window one night at a skunk wandering around in the front yard.
  • A flat tire on Saturday night is a nuisance if you have to drive home to another city the next day. There are not a lot of places that can fix it on Sunday. I was at the shop before 8AM and there was already a line before they opened.
  • I was out and about a lot on Saturday and Sunday so I didn’t cut the grass over the weekend. Hopefully it won’t get too long before I can get too it. I probably could have done it on Sunday, but I just wanted to relax and enjoy the last little bit of my vacation.
  • Its going to take several days to catch up on the work that accumulated while I was on vacation. Recently, it seems like taking time off is really just scheduling extra-long work days for when I return. I enjoy my vacations; but, hate the long hours that follow them.

Friday Featurette #249

Here is a short clip of The Wife sneezing. In the video, you can hear the bed squeaking a bit in the background which you can’t in real life. Very strange. I’m really not sure what the problem is. But I’ll keep investigating. Anyway, have a great weekend, we’re going to enjoy the last three days of our vacation.

Traditional Thursday #249

I did some investigation of the problems with the audio and determined that the microphone picks up more noise bed than it actually being produced. The sound is there; but it isn’t as prominent in real life as it appears in the videos we make. I don’t know if it’s the location of the camera and attached microphone or if it’s a flaw in the sound pic up itself. But its MUCH louder relative to other sounds. Neither of our phones can be attached to a tripod but it we need to do some investigation with other cameras.

Wednesday Weirdness #249

I have to work tonight even though I’m in the middle of a long-scheduled vacation. Stuff happens sometimes. But; I’m not happy because I think it could have been easily avoided with better planning.
