Traditional Thursday #268

Here is more of this week’s movie that we are experimenting with. Perhaps we will use a different tool with the part we post next. I upgraded to the latest version of Corel’s VisualStudio recently and we haven’t tried it yet.

P.S.: I installed yet another update to WordPress, our blogging software today. Hopefully it didn’t break anything that wasn’t already broken.

Wednesday Weirdness #268

After many, many failed attempts, I finally upgraded the last computer that I use regularly to Windows 10. I’m not certain what the issue was; but I suspect lack of disk space. The Windows.old folder is HUGE. Much larger than on any of my other systems. It certainly would have been nice to receive an error message to that effect. Especially since the program theoretically checks to ensure enough disk space is available. The setup logs were amazingly uninformative. And, since everything gets deleted, upon failure, there was no way to tell what that problem was. It was coincidence that I had more space available this time around. What a gigantic pain.

Tuesday Two For #268

Since we’re having problems making movies with sound, we though that it might be fun to play around with some of the video effects that don’t work well with audio. So, this week, we’re speeding up the videos. Not as something to do all of the time. Just something different. Please let us know what you think.

Monday Monologue #268

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • We had a great Thanksgiving holiday. It wasn’t long enough. But four-day weekends never are. We’re already looking forward to Christmas.
  • Someone scratched up the door of my SUV. Not bad enough to need to go to the shop. But bad enough to require touch up paint which I don’t have. So, the entire incident is doubly irritating.
  • It’s actually been warm enough the past few days that I’m debating whether or not to cut the grass one more time. I’ll probably leave it. I can think of much better things to do outside on a rare December weekend with warm temperatures.
  • I’ve ordered a few items online today. But nothing expensive. Unfortunately, most of the items we want/need were not on sale.

Friday Featurette #267

The Wife sitting naked on the bed before a "photo" sessionBecause of the technical difficulties with our camera during this week’s photo session, I had to reach into the way back machine for today’s photograph. Fortunately, I didn’t need to reach back very far. This picture is from a week ago. I just upgraded to the latest version of PaintShop Pro so I had to re-configure my workspace since the everything reverted to the to the defaults. We hope that you didn’t have to work and were able to relax and enjoy the day. Have a great second half of the long weekend.

Wednesday Weirdness #267

I like working downtown; but, I’m not fully reacclimated to all the thinks you don’t think about when you spend years working in a old office park. Today I stumbled of over a fire hydrant when I was walking to my car while I was checking traffic. I know it was nothing more than an embarrassing accident. But that doesn’t make the gouge/knot in my knee go way. Hopefully I won’t be sore and stiff when we run our traditional Thanksgiving Day road race tomorrow.

Tuesday Two For #267

Sometimes, it seems like our camera has a mind of its own. It suddenly just stops taking photographs or recording videos. It’s very annoying to discover that we have only a handful of pictures or a few minutes of video at the end of a photo session. Such was the case this week when we were making a video. We’ve got a few good clips to post. But, not as much as we were expecting for our private archives. Perhaps there will be some good Black Friday deals in “Camera & Photo”. And, once again, there is no audio to go with the video since recording sound with our current camera is so problematical.

Monday Monologue #267

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I cleaned the oven on Saturday since I probably won’t be able to do it for a long time. It was actually a “good” day for it. It was so windy I only needed to open a couple of windows to get enough ventilation.
  • The weather men were not wrong about the weather this weekend. It rained a LOT on Saturday. And Sunday was cold and windy. It took quite a while for us to warm up after being outside for so long.
  • I scheduled some regular maintenance on my car on Friday. I’m hoping for a shorter wait than usual. Hopefully not too many other people had the same idea. The shop I use is not near a mall or any big shopping centers.
  • We haven’t rowed in two weeks and it already seems like an eternity. Its going to be a long winter.

Friday Featurette #266

The Husband and The Wife having sex side by sideI do not think that I will be catching up on yardwork this weekend. The weather forecast calls for heavy rains on Saturday followed by near- freezing to below-freezing temperatures on Sunday. I’d like to say that we’ll be inside by the fireplace most of both days. Unfortunately, we’ve got outside chores to do that will keep us busy for many, many hours. And, unlike The Wife, I am not on vacation all next week. I mostly like to use my vacation when the weather is nice. But, that doesn’t mean that I’m not slightly jealous of The Wife who gets more vacation than I do. Stay warm, stay dry and have a great weekend.
