We did not have a lot of options so today’s photo is similar to one we posted recently. We would certainly like a camera that works reliably all the time. But, if that’s the worst thing that happens, everything is good. There always seems to be something else to buy. Even though it is brand new, I just ordered a new bin for door of the refrigerator. And we still need another glass shelf for the freezer that is much more expensive than we were expecting. It seems like there is always something we need. Anyway, have a great long weekend. We’ll se you on the other side.

Traditional Thursday #304
Here is another of the photographs we took. We wish there were more. Unfortunately, some things are beyond our immediate control. Obviously, the long term solution is to purchase a new camera. But, after getting a new air conditioner and a new refrigerator, we have already spent a lot on unexpected purchases this year. So, it remains a to-do.
Wednesday Weirdness #304
It’s been a year since I stopped regularly eating donuts. Since then, my weight has stabilized about 10 pounds lower than it used to be. I know I ate a lot of them; but, its amazing that moderating just one food and one more day of exercise could have such a dramatic impact.
Tuesday Two For #304
Our camera stopped taking pictures in the middle of a photo session. So, once again we have fewer pictured than planned. For some reason, the dial does not stay in the selected mode and flickers into an adjacent mode which stops the interval shot operation. We know it’s old and needs replacing; but, it’s still frustrating.
Monday Monologue #304
An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).
- On Saturday we had to chase a small garden snake out of the garage. Our garage is relatively neat. But, it still found what it though was a good like a good place to nest. We’ve rearranged the stuff in the corner and that will not be happening again.
- Sunday was cloudy but hot so we were able to get in the pool as we had hoped. And we were immediately able to put to use the work I did on the pool equipment.
- Our next-door neighbor was cutting his grass while we were lounging in the pool. It didn’t really need cutting; but he is obsessive about mowing multiple times a week. We just turned up the volume of the music playing through our sound system to mask the noise of the lawn mower.
- Today was another hot sunny day which made for a good day on the river after we were finished with work. Hopefully we will have weather like this through the long Labor Day weekend.
Friday Featurette #303
One of our previously scheduled weekend activities was cancelled. So, we will have more free time this weekend. Hopefully it will be warm and sunny enough for us to get in the pool (if it doesn’t rain). I have to work on our pool equipment so it would be good to be able to use it. Have a great weekend.
Traditional Thursday #303

As it always does this time of year, sunset is happening earlier and earlier. But, what’s slightly depressing is that even when the sun is still up, its not as high in the sky. So, it’s much darker an hour … Continue reading
Wednesday Weirdness #303
I had the pool company come out and look at the heater that didn’t come on this weekend and, of course, it worked perfectly when they were here. We’ve had issues occasionally this summer; but this weekend was the first time there was a consistent problem. So, a service call seemed reasonable. I’m glad that there wasn’t something else that needed replacement. But annoyed at having to pay for an unnecessary service all.
Tuesday Two For #303
Here is a picture showing how much sun The Wife has gotten this summer and especially this past weekend. It’s either been cool and rainy or hot and sunny with no in between. Unlike past Augusts I’ve mostly needed to cut the grass every weekend. The rain is good for the yard. Even if it is somewhat unusual. (I will not be cutting the grass twice a week like my next-door neighbor.)
Monday Monologue #303
An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).
- We did indeed get in the pool on Sunday. The water was cold (for us) but it was still good.
- We got chased off the river by rain again today. It’s slightly frustrating since it never rains for too long. But its better to be safe; especially since rain showers can easily turn into a thunderstorm.
- I cut the grass in record time on Saturday; mostly because didn’t edge with the push mower and trimmer like I usually do.
- After watching a few preseason games over the past two weeks, we are ready for some real football.
