Wednesday Weirdness #307

Walking into work today I saw TWO cars turn the wrong way onto a one-way street. The driver of first vehicle realized their mistake and immediately turned around in an alley. The driver of the second vehicle just kept going with everyone honking and swerving. They either didn’t care that they were going the wrong way or they didn’t notice. I just watched their arrogance or stupidity in amazement.

Monday Monologue #307

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • I burned my finger On Friday. The blister is in an awkward place; but, so far, I’ve managed to keep it intact. Hopefully it will start shrinking soon.
  • I broke the lanyard I used for my key ring. Fortunately, it happened around the house and I didn’t lose all my keys. Remote transmitters are expensive.
  • My next-door neighbor just cut his grass three times in seven days. That’s a lot, even for someone who is obsessive. And definitely not good for his lawn.
  • Our favorite college and pro football teams won again this weekend. I’m starting to be a believer.

Friday Featurette #306

The Wife sitting naked on the bed before a photo sessionAfter a week, I was finally able to get back on the water for a quick row. With Hurricane F. forecast to make landfall soon I shouldn’t complain. High water around here is never anything like the aftermath of something like that. Be safe if you are in or near the danger zone. And, wherever you are, have a great weekend.

Wednesday Weirdness #306

I received a reply to an email I sent from someone that put me in somewhat of a bind which was already frustrating enough. But, it subsequently it became clear that they hadn’t read the other five emails I had sent previously. It’s annoying trying to interact with people who may or may not read or respond to emails. Especially in the 21st century.

Monday Monologue #306

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • The forecast was not wrong about the rain. It’s finally starting to clear. With the resulting high water, it will likely be a long time before the river is rowable again.
  • Amazingly, our next-door neighbor was outside cutting his grass. The rest of the neighborhood is giving their lawn at least another day to dry out. I know ours is still much too wet.
  • We’ve already had a number of unexpected purchases this year; but we’re considering buying a new sump pump. It seldom runs so we don’t worry about it. But it ran constantly all weekend. Its, definitely too old to rely on the next time we have a storm.
  • Our favorite college and pro football teams both won this weekend. That doesn’t happen very often. It doesn’t last; but, we always enjoy the early season optimism.
