Friday Featurette #316

The Wife standing naked in front of the mirror drying her hairAfter all the busy weekends, we do not have much planned for Saturday or Sunday. It’s supposed to rain. So, even though it will be warm, we won’t be able to row or do any yard work. It will be good to relax. Unfortunately, I expect it’s just the first weekend of manythat we’ll be reminiscing about the summer and anxiously waiting for spring.

Have a great weekend.

Wednesday Weirdness #316

I had to reprogram all the garage remotes again. I know that is the way of things; but, it’s still somewhat frustrating. I don’t know if they make operators that can connect with a computer over Wi-Fi; but, I’m going to find out. I see no reason to be stuck in the 90’s technology-wise if I can avoid it.

Tuesday Two For #316

The Husband going down on The WifeIt wasn’t “significant”; but, it was still depressing to see snow on the ground and ice on the roads. It already seems like January even though its only November. We’re hoping for a mild winter; which doesn’t seem to likely considering how cold and blustery November has been. After last year’s cold snowy winter, almost anything would be an improvement.

Monday Monologue #316

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • It was hard to get back to work today after being off for four days. I really didn’t feel like going out this morning. Especially since the weather is cold and blustery. The sunshine we had over the weekend totally vanished.
  • Thanksgiving was great. We did all of the traditional things that we like to do. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving is a week earlier than usual. So, we have more than a month until our Christmas vacation.
  • Amazingly, we rowed over the weekend. Of course, it’s supposed to snow tomorrow. It was a lot more fun than cutting the grass or raking the leaves. Especially since we’ve never been able to row this late in the year. Of course, it’s supposed to snow tomorrow.
  • I did not buy anything today. There were a lot of good deals. Just not on the items we want/need. These days, I do almost all of my Christmas shopping online. I just don’t need to be finished before the end of November.

Friday Featurette #315

The Husband and The Wife hhanging positionsThere were a lot of walkers at the Turkey run we did this past week. I don’t understand why they don’t start toward the back as instructed in the race information. Instead, they start at the front and slow all the runners down. The race was crowded so it took us over a mile to pass them all. If I was walking, I wouldn’t want to have runner after runner streaming by me for such a long time. Especially if I was trying to walk with someone.

Wednesday Weirdness #315

Its only Wednesday and my email inbox is over flowing with Thanksgiving Day sales. I do read them in case someone has a good price on something we plan to purchase. I don’t understand some of the advertised sales. It’s very, very, unlikely that we will be buying pool equipment or supplies in late November. Sending an email is technically free. But, most companies still pay someone else to send to the addresses on their email lists.

Tuesday Two For #315

We were thinking earlier today that our digital camera is over 8 years old. Even though it is very finicky, its amazing that it still works at all. We’ve reached the point where we are (pleasantly) surprised if it operatels normally for the entire photo session. Which, of course means, that it’s long past time to get a new one. We will certainly be checking the online sales on Friday. Anyway, here is a short video we made to make sure it can still record movies semi-reliably.

Monday Monologue #315

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • It hasn’t sleeted and snowed enough to require removal; bit I gave up on cutting the grass one final time and changed my outdoor power equipment in to snow removal mode. It feels like it could snow at any time outside even though it’s only November.
  • I was able to replace the light socket on the oven without any unexpected problems. Except the new fixture came with an unlabeled halogen bulb. I don’t know what lamp to replace it with the next time it burns out. I checked online; unfortunately, all of the documentation still listed a standard incandescent appliance bulb as the replacement.
  • We were able to run in the park this past Saturday. It wasn’t warm. But it wasn’t so cold that we would have been uncomfortable in our cold weather gear. We like to get outside as much as we can in November and December even if it is a bit chilly since it will likely far too cold in January and February.
  • Everything seems good with switching everything to secure. I haven’t had very many painless upgrades. Perhaps there is a lesson to be learned. Like “automagic” upgrades are neither.
