I had to update our anti-virus software today. The manufacturer has switched from a product key that expires based upon the date when the product was activated to a subscription key that expires based upon when it was purchased. So, for the observant purchaser there is a disincentive to renew early and lose whatever time the activation codes overlapped. You can still buy old-style codes; but they are more expensive. So just after midnight when the old license keys expired, I signed up for an automatically renewing subscription to get the best price and immediately changed the renewal type to manual. I’ll have to do the same thing again when the current subscription is over. But, hopefully, I’ll have an alternative package with a better licensing mechanism identified. Yet one more thing on our ever-growing to-do list. At least we had a good week for pictures and I don’t have to feel bad about not yet finding a suitable camera.
