My car starts reminding me that I need an oil change when there is 8% oil life left. I drive a lot and it will still be weeks before it gets close to zero. It wouldn’t be a problem if you could dismiss the reminder for a while. But you have to dismiss it every time you start your car in order to use the LCD display on the instrument panel. I change my oil regularly. But I don’t want to be constantly reminded; especially after I have already made the appointment. One of the nuisances of driving a high-tech vehicle.

Tuesday Two For #348

I noticed when I was editing the photos for today’s post that I uploaded several photos last week with the “wrong” name. No one else would likely notice. And it doesn’t change the content of the posts. But; it’s the … Continue reading
Monday Monologue #348
An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).
- We had another weekend of warm, sunny weather. Typical July weather for around here; but very welcome after all he rain, we’ve had.
- We’re dog-sitting the temporary dog (and friend) for a few days. Its just like old times excerpt it reminds us how much time has passed.
- I cut my grass on Saturday. It wasn’t really long. I just wanted to even it up a bit. It’s in much better shape than the neighbor who continues to cut his several times a week despite the hot weather.
- We got in the pool over the weekend too. The water was so warm that we didn’t even have to heat it up.
Friday Featurette #347
Traditional Thursday #347

For a variety of reasons, this week has been somewhat frustrating and Friday will not arrive soon enough. Looking forward to Friday (which promised to be better) and then the weekend which is forecast to be warm and sunny. I … Continue reading
Wednesday Weirdness #347
We were getting a lot of spam flagged as good recently so I cleared the database that our learning filter uses. It’s slowly relearning what is spam and was is not. But we don’t get enough mail to train it very quickly. I wish there was a good way to save emails in the raw format it uses. The we could teach it very quickly. Until then there is going to be a lot of manual relearning.
Tuesday Two For #347
Monday was a return to the rainy weather that we had been experiencing for so long. Fortunately, it cleared in the evening and we were able to have a great row. Since I let the grass grow a little longer when its hot and dry, it recovers quickly so I’ll definitely need to cut it when it dries after a couple of days of rain. It will be a long day. But we much prefer long summer days outside to winder days indoors.
Monday Monologue #347
An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).
- The heat wave we are having has been great! We were able to get in the pool and row afterward in the late evening on the same day. Probably too hot for most people; but great for us.
- It rained some on Sunday evening. It’s been so hot and dry that it didn’t make the river get to high and the grass still isn’t long and shaggy (although I will need to cut it soon).
- Kinda sad for the people who had outdoor events cancelled this weekend due to the heat. We like it warm; but don’t like seeing people miss out on things that thy had been planning.
- I wore a hat when we rowed on Sunday and jut keeping my face in the shade it made a big deference in how cool I felt. Something to keep in mind for the future.
Friday Featurette #346
We did a sunset row today. The kind that you can only do in the middle of the summer. We were not in a hurry to get off the water and get our boat put away like in the fall when the sun is setting. It was a great start to the weekend which is forecast to be hot. Its supposed to cool off next week; but we are still hoping for some sun. Have a great weekend.
