We are definitely ready for the weekend. Its supposed to be warmer; but, wet and rainy. Better than cold and snowy but not nearly as good as hot and sunny. I don’t expect the weather to be warm enough to get out and row every January and February. But, there have been a lot of days where I needed my big coat. It’s probably wishful thinking; but I put the snow suit I wear to shovel back in the basement. We’ll see if I was being overly optimistic. “Light” snow is forecast for Monday. Here is a higher quality video than what we usually post. Have a great weekend.
All of the cold damp air has us longing for the end of winter even more than usual. Especially since I’ve been doing more walking during the day outside. Its nothing unusual for a winter around here. But, after a warmer than average winter two years ago and a much warmer than average winter last year, “average” seems cold. I don’t think we’ll be rowing in February like we did last year.
We had planned to do some more things with this week’s video; but, unfortunately, I got busy doing some other things so all we have is a quick transcode of an intermediate product. We’ll finish editing and post the movie as we originally intended later on one of these days the we have technical difficulties. And, once again, sorry for the sound quality. Maybe we need to get a new bed.
The Wife and I will be on vacation the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day as will not be posting until January. We will be around. Just super-busy with several important things going on. We should post again in a couple of weeks.
Until then. We wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Today is the shortest day of the year which also makes it the first day of winter. Neither is a good thing. But, stating tomorrow, the days will be getting longer. Even if we’ve got a lot of cold snowy winter weather ahead. Here is the second part of the video we posted earlier this week. Creating it was just the thing for a cold winter night. I just need to work on getting the editing finished quicker.
We are still experimenting with VideoStudio Pro. It can’t do anything about the sound. But, it does have some lots of effects that can be applied. We can do things with it that you can only do with a full-featured application that are well beyond the capabilities of the utility we normally use. It will take a while to learn. But, little by little we’ll use it to improve the quality of our videos.
Today we are posting a short video clip made with Corel VideoStudio X10. It’s a big file to be so short. If it were longer it would need to be down-sampled. But, it was quick and easy to add a mosaic (pixilation) effect with the track motion filter. Unfortunately, it can’t do anything about the sound.
Here is more of this week’s movie that we are experimenting with. Perhaps we will use a different tool with the part we post next. I upgraded to the latest version of Corel’s VisualStudio recently and we haven’t tried it yet.
P.S.: I installed yet another update to WordPress, our blogging software today. Hopefully it didn’t break anything that wasn’t already broken.
Since we’re having problems making movies with sound, we though that it might be fun to play around with some of the video effects that don’t work well with audio. So, this week, we’re speeding up the videos. Not as something to do all of the time. Just something different. Please let us know what you think.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of our visitors! We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.
