I really like the progressive lenses in the eyeglasses I got this year. Except when I bump them and get them out of alignment. The issue isn’t as severe as the last few pairs I had. Unfortunately, today, I had a mishap that will result in a trip to the optometrist first thing in the morning. I can still read things OK. But, I’m starting to get a headache. Hopefully everything will soon be as good as new.
Our camera died again after just two photos! This time, I restarted it in movie mode and, thankfully, it operated normally for the remainder of our photo session. Its old, especially for consumer electronics. We would have replaced it long ago if we didn’t use our smartphones for most photographs and videos. It’s unusual for us to have such outdated electronics. So, it’s doubly annoying.
This weekend looks like a good one to get in the swimming pool. Unfortunately, our pool heater will not ignite. With any luck, the water will be warm enough that it won’t matter. We’re going to get it fixed since there is not any point in having a pool that you can’t use. But, we’ve had certainly enough broken things already this year. Hopefully we will be lucky and it will be something minor and we can. We’ve definitely had more than our share of bad luck recently. Have a great weekend. Maybe our next post will be about relaxing in the pool.
Our new refrigerator is great. Our only “complaint” is that it doesn’t make ice as fast as the old one even though the freezer is colder. And, of course, it was gigantically expensive. We’ll have a few cool days that we will not need much, if any, ice for our sports water bottles and the ice maker will eventually fill up. But, we’ll remember the cost for a long time. Not having a lot of low-cost options is one of the unfortunate realities of our kitchen.
It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago that summer had just started and we were enjoying the long days; but, sadly, it’s become apparent that summer is definitely starting to wane. The evenings are cooler and sunset is 45-minutes earlier than it used to be. We still have plenty of time to have a good row. But, its usually getting dark by the time we are home. It’s been a great summer that has zoomed by all too quickly.
We are doing another movie while we can. Hopefully the bed isn’t too loud yet. The movie is higher resolution and slightly longer than what we typically post so the .MP4 file is big. It has been many, many years; but I still remember the days when we couldn’t post such a large file.
Now that the air conditional isn’t so loud and doesn’t have an annoying vibration, we’ve moved the bed back against the outside wall. It was only a few inches away from the wall before. But, I never quite got used to the bed not being next to at least one wall. The bed is still new so I don’t think it increases the noise from the bed springs. Can you tell any difference?
We’ve been rowing a lot this summer since it’s been mostly hot and dry. Occasionally we’ve had “scattered” thunderstorms; but not enough rain to make the river high and unrowable. And, when it did rain, it didn’t last long enough that we couldn’t row afterwards on these long summer days. according to my log I’ve rowed 18 consecutive days which is the most I’ve done. I know that streak will come to an end, so we’re going to enjoy these long days while we can.
We had a busy day today and didn’t get to row. Not the best way to get into our weekend. But, that’s happens sometimes. We’ve got another busty weekend planned. I’m not sure that I’ll even have time to cut the grass which is OK since it has been hot. But will probably irritate the next-door neighbor. We’ll catch up with you next week. Have a great weekend!
One of the minor annoyances of both of us being nearsighted is that we can’t see the camera when it’s on the tripod even though its only a few feet away. So, we can’t tell if the light stops flashing (which means it’s not recording). We really never know if it’s working or not. Obviously, it should keep going once it’s started. But sometimes, it doesn’t. Most people see well enough to notice. Unfortunately, we do not. So, making a movie always needs a bit of luck. This time, everything worked as expected and we have a video to share.
