Today was a warm sunny day that seemed almost like summer. We haven’t had as many of them as we would like; but we really enjoy long sunny summer days. Especially the late sunsets that let us do more things in the evening. Our smart thermostat says that we barely used the air conditioner in May. We’re not anxious to spend “extra” money. But, we are really longing for pool weather. Right now, our swimming pool is basically an expensive decoration in the back yard.
We couldn’t row today because it was raining (again). So, we had kinda an early night and took this week’s pictures before the sun went down. It is nice to still have some daylight when we were home for the … Continue reading
I recently reinstalled Twitter on my phone and almost instantly regretted it. I’m constantly getting notifications for “recommended content” that I’m not interested in yet I can’t disable them without missing notifications for the things that I follow. Very frustrating; … Continue reading
P.S. I know I am often always late with these pre-holiday posts. I would rather be late with posting and start my vaca on time than the other way around.
I installed yet another version of WordPress, the software hat runs this blog, yesterday. The updates, are never ending. Another one is due in two weeks; but they couldn’t wait since the last update broke so much. And, somehow, slowing down and testing more thoroughly doesn’t seem to be an option. I don’t know when yet; but we’re definitely getting off the merry-go-round of constant updates.
Unsurprisingly, it rained HARD last night. So, our weekend plans are cancelled which seems to be the story of the spring whenever we plan to do anything requiring several consecutive days of good weather. If it doesn’t rain any more, it should dry out enough to cut the grass and do the homeowner thing. So, at least we can be productive (and slightly frustrated). Have a great weekend!
I finally got around to ordering the update for the navigation system in our SUV. It’s a good thing to do prior to the start of a busy summer travel season. But you really need to already be in the midst of a road trip; since the update takes about an hour and the vehicle has to be running the entire time. I realize that its only something that needs to be done once a year. Still, you would have thought there would be an easier way.
After the ordeal of cutting tall wet grass in the rain this past weekend, a robotic lawn mower is looking better and better. It’s still far down on the list of things to buy. But it would be nice to have one; especially given our recent weather. When we finally have a sunny day, yard work is the last think I want to be doing. It really would be nice to remotely cut the grass from an app on my phone while I was out doing something I wanted to do. That is new technology that I would really use.
