Tuesday Two For #378

The Husband on top of The Wife with her legs in the airWe have a limited selection of pictures to choose from for this week’s posts because the flash on our camera didn’t activate in what has become an ongoing issue. It’s frustrating. Partly because I dislike outdated technology that’s not as use full as it once was. And partly because its non-replacement serves as a reminder of the other things that need to be replace more urgently.

Wednesday Weirdness #368

We saw the new Star Wars movie today. The concession stand was extremely disorganized. Clerks would randomly walk away from their station so you didn’t know what line to get in. I didn’t even complain on the online survey. I’m sure having to serve people non-stop on Christmas is no fun.

Monday Monologue #355

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • Today is the first day of fall and there was a bit of a chill in the air after the sun went down which was mildly depressing since we like to do so many things outside.
  • We visited the temporary dog and her owner this weekend. The two of us being house guests (rather than the other way around) still seems slightly weird.
  • I skipped cutting the grass for yet another weekend. I can finally see a difference between mine and my next-door neighbor who cuts his all the time. So, I’ll probably need to mow soon.
  • The water level in the river is as low as I’ve ever seen it. We can’t row when the water gets too shallow so the laps we row get shorter and shorter.

Monday Monologue #346

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).

  • After a zero-day work week and a four-day work week, this week will seem long.
  • Its been hot so I haven’t been cutting my grass. Our grass is only slightly longer than that of our next-door neighbor who has cut his twice. But it’s much greener.
  • We got in the pool on Saturday and didn’t even need to turn on the heater. It’s been that warm recently. It won’t last; but after the cold, wet spring the July heatwave has been great.
  • The new air-conditioner that we got last year is fabulous. It runs way less than the old one; but still easily keeps the house cool.

Wednesday Weirdness #318

I tried the new WordPress Block Editor today. It’s certainly different and probably marginally better than the “classic” Editor. But it’s relatively still primitive. I still much prefer using an old-style desktop word processor application. You can manipulate content easier than you could before. I doubt many people will need use the new capability. Right now, it seems like a lot of wasted effort. But, it’s free so I shouldn’t really complain.
