Friday Featurette #330

The Wife sitting naked on the bed before a "photo" sessionThe Wife and I have matching wristwatches. So, we both wear our fitness trackers on our dominant hand which is a bit of an adjustment. We got our watches as an anniversary gift to ourselves, so we’ll continue to wear them even though they’re really just jewelry and our phones keep much better time. Our style is definitely an unusual blend of old and new. Have a great weekend!

Traditional Thursday #330

The Husband and The Wife enjoying a moment togetherIt probably doesn’t matter to anyone besides me; but I spent a lot longer that you would expect correcting/removed an extra zero I accidentally included in the file name of several photos. With all the new features that have been added, WordPress still doesn’t natively include a way to rename a media item. So, you have to rename the file and update the database manually from outside WordPress; including all the generated thumbnails and their associated metadata that are never used. That’s a mistake I won’t be making again for a long, long time. I have no desire to repeat such a tedious process.

P.S. See my fitness tracker on my left wrist. I think I got more “steps” this time.

Wednesday Weirdness #330

I discovered have not one but two small cavities at my most recent trip to the dentist. Fillings are always a nuisance for me since the local anesthesia doesn’t work very well and I often end up just having to hold still while they drill. I’ve already scheduled the appointment; but I am not looking forward to it.

Monday Monologue #330

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife)

  • I haven’t had it for very long; but I really like having a fitness tracker. It is very useful having quantitative information rather than guestimates. Of course, it tells me I eat too much which I already knew.
  • I think I was putting away my snowmobile suit was too optimistic. It snowed and the temperature is dropping into single digits. It was even too cold to take the dogs (who are visiting) for a walk.
  • With this weekend’s miserable weather, about all we could do was stay inside and watch a Blu-Ray. I think it was our last unwatched movie. We’ve had a lot of weekends like this past one this winter.
  • I decided to flush our hot-water heater over the weekend since I was stuck inside. There was relatively a lot of goo. It’s amazing how much stuff is suspended in the water we use even though we have municipal water. Glad the water we drink and cook with is filtered.

Friday Featurette #329

The Wife sitting naked on the bed with a tube of flavored lubricantI worked late into the evening today. Nut, that was a good thing; because I got everything finished up and I have nothing (work-related) to do over the weekend. I’m haven’t had any major crises recently. I finally seem to be catching up on things. It’s a nice feeling to start the weekend knowing there is nothing “extra” that I need to do. Hopefully the trend will continue. Have a greet weekend.

Traditional Thursday #329

The Wife sitting naked on the bed with a tube of flavored lubricantIt’s that time of the month for The Wife. So, we put a towel on top of the bed lines just in case. I’m not sure where they went; but we used to have a couple of old towels that we only used for this purpose. Newer and more absorbent is better for preventing stains, so the one we worked well. It just made me think about old times and whatever became of our original set that we used for many, many years.

Wednesday Weirdness #329

I’ve had so many long phone calls recently that I’ve had to start charging my mobile phone while I am at work. I know everyone has to deal with unproductive meetings. But that still doesn’t make them any more tolerable. Especially when I have days that are filled with them.

Monday Monologue #329

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife)

  • Amazingly, we survived this weekend’s windstorm without a power failure. More often than not, we’re the unlucky ones who lose power, sometimes for days.
  • I’ve recently started using a fitness tracker. It will be interesting to see how I compare to The Wife. She’s had one for a while now.
  • Working downtown, I often see cars going the wrong way on one-way streets. Usually, they turn around or turn off once they realize. But for the first time, I saw a driver increase speed in an attempt to reach the two-way portion that is quite some distance away as quickly as possible.
  • The latest update of our smart phones’ mail app doesn’t always retrieve all the mail from the server. It’s a very unlikely scenario that probably most people never encounter. Unfortunately, it happens for us all the time. It took a while; but we’ve got a workaround which is good since the issue will probably never get fixed since it is so rare for everyone else.
