Monday Monologue #375
An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).
- I installed the new microwave oven without any problems on Saturday. I had all the tools and all the hardware I needed which was an unexpected surprise. It is super-quiet compared to the old one.
- I didn’t watch he big race and I’m really kinda glad. You never want to see something like that. Especially if you’re old enough to remember all the deadly crashes when safety was an afterthought.
- I had the today off for President’s Day for the first time in a long time if not the first time ever. Its nice having a three-day weekend in mid-February. New Year’s Day to Memorial Day was always a big stretch.
- I washed my car over the weekend; which means its destined to rain since that is always my luck.
Monday Monologue #372
- I was on the phone for an hour on Saturday unsuccessfully trying to resolve an issue with my new phone. The Customer Support person was friendly; but, not very technical. Every time I asked a question, he would have to put me on hold and go find someone who knew the answer.
- It is nice having a phone that I don’t need to charge part way through the day. I bought a charger for my desk at work so it wasn’t a big deal. But it’s nice to not need it.
- After watching the ProBowl yesterday, I am ready for some real football. I felt like I was watching an early season, intra-squad scrimmage
- RIP, KBB.
Monday Monologue #370
- The football games this past weekend were very entertaining. I don’t like the drama when it’s a team we follow, but it is fun when we’re watching more casually.
- It’s definitely weird being in the year 2020. As was pointed out somewhere recently, 2050 is now closer than 1980. And that is a year that we both remember well.
- We still need to take down the Christmas Tree and the rest of our Holiday decorations. We typically leave up the tree the week after Christmas; but weren’t doing anything extra this past weekend.
- We are still sick; so, we probably won’t be posting much until we both recover. It’s very unusual for us both to be sick at the same time. And hopefully it will be a long, long time before it happens again.
Monday Monologue #362
An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).
- Our weekend trip was very well timed. We’ve been back for less than 24-hours and its already snowing outside.
- Rowing season suddenly being over is mildly depressing. Obviously, its time. But it looks like we’ve got a long, cold snowy winter ahead of us.
- When I was leaving work today, I saw someone driving the wrong way down a one-way street deliberately as a short cut. They weren’t going very far and no cars were coming so it was “OK”.
- Happy Veterans Day to all of the veterans out there.
Wednesday Weirdness #353
Looking at the calendar, today is a day of remembrance.
So, no shaking my head or WTF anecdotes for today.
Monday Monologue #335

- If you observe such things, we hope that you had a great Easter Weekend.
- We are back from a 5-day spring break in a warm and sunny destination. It was fabulous. We actually returned the middle last week. It just took us a while to catch up on things after being on the road for so long. We’re back into our regular grove, though we would much rather not be.
- I did finally cut the grass this past weekend. It was still a bit scraggly from the winter so it didn’t really need cutting before we left; but it certainly grew in while we were gone. It’s good I have a powerful lawn mower since it was still wet from the rain on Saturday.
- It was cold, then it was rainy and now the river is too high. So, we haven’t rowed much recently. We have ridden our bicycles some; but, many of the bike paths are flooded too. Springtime is great after the long winter; but it would be even better without so much rain.
Monday Monologue #334
An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).
- I’ve reconfigured my outdoor power equipment for the summer. The grass is turning green and it’s almost time to for the first mowing of the season. My next door neighbor has already started.
- It’s definitely more comfortable in the house now that I’ve fixed the furnace. It probably wasn’t working as well as normal before it totally died.
- We went down to the river but didn’t row on Sunday due to high winds. Usually we’re more determined; but, rowing season has just started and there will be a lot more opportunities.
- Good luck to whichever team you’re cheering for in tonight’s championship. None of our favorites a participating, so we’re just hoping for a good game.
Monday Monologue #332
An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife).
- Happy belated St. Patrick’s Day everyone. We did a few errands; but, otherwise, mostly stayed in. A quiet day at home was what I need to relax and recharge
- We are (mostly) adjusted to the time change and its only taken a week. Usually it takes us longer. Perhaps having several somewhat sunny days last week helped. It was definitely a welcome change from the gray skies we have so often during the winter.
- Now that we’ve been outside rowing, I am having a hard time getting motivated for my indoor workouts. I still go to the gym; but, it’s difficult to really go as hard; especially with the first day of spring on Wednesday.
- Looking forward to “March Madness”. We don’t have a favorite team; but, it’s still fun to follow since every game is “win or go home”. And, there is a “Cinderella” almost every year.
Traditional Thursday #278
Unsurprisingly, the taste of spring that we had on Tuesday is over. It’s cold and rainy again. An improvement over cold and snowy; but not by much. Its good for the grass; but, we are longing for some extended sunshine.
I’ve been watching the Olympics whenever I have the opportunity to go dark and not find out the results. Live scores and standings are everywhere, from crawlers on the bottom of TV screens to posts and tweets online. it’s difficult to not find out who one. Especially with “live” television not quite being live.
