I’ve been online less this week than usual since I had some work dumped on me at the last minute. Its never fun to do another people’s job for them; especially when they have had plenty of time to learn how to do it themselves. It’s even less fun when you have drop everything else because they didn’t tell you until right before the deadline.
The Wife and I both feel pretty good despite all the toiling that we did in the yard over the weekend. We still were able to find the time row so it wasn’t all work and no fun. The water level in the river is as low as we’ve ever seen it. It’s still fun; but we have to be careful when we are rowing since boats are so fragile. A long drought was very unexpected after such a wet spring. This has been a very strange year weather-wise.
Happy New Year!
The Wife is still slightly sick (as am I) but every day we get better. Having a spring cold isn’t any fun. Especially with the winter weather we have been having. It certainly doesn’t seem like the second week of April temperature-wise. We’re hopeful that spring weather will arrive soon. Our normal spring/summer schedule seems almost like a dream.
Whenever it’s cold and we have trouble turning on the fireplace, I think about fixing it. Sadly, it’s such a gigantic nuisance that I still haven’t gotten around to it. First, I have to remove the fake logs and the all lava rocks so I can reach the gas piping. Then I need to take out both the thermopile and the thermocouple. Clean them up enough to read the part numbers so that I can find replacements. Then put everything back together. Order the new parts. And do everything all over again in a week or two when the parts arrive. And that’s assuming that the needed parts are readily available. One of the problems with everything being available on the internet is that very little is available at local stores. And this is definitely the type of involved disassembly that I would prefer not to do twice. An ideal indoor task for a cold, rainy weekend in the summer. If I don’t forget when its ben months since we turned on the fireplace.
We enjoyed Sunday’s game but are sad to see the pro football season come to an end. The NBA team we cheer for is in a deep funk. Our favorite college hoops team is having a down year. And we … Continue reading
I really like the fact that the gym I now work out at during lunch hour is within easy walking distance. The downside to working downtown is that parking isn’t convenient for lunchtime errands. I would actually do more waking if I walked to the garage where I park usually park my car, drove to the nearest parking in vicinity of the gym, and walked inside than if I just walked directly there. I don’t mind walking. That’s one of the things I like about working downtown. I prefer to walk. Except when its freeing cold outside. Then I find myself longing for summer even more than I already am.
Our camera shut off for some unknow reason when we were making a movie so we only have the beginning, unfortunately. It wasn’t the battery, it just stopped recording. So, you’ll have to use your imagination for what happens next. Even though there really isn’t a model that appeals to us, it’s looking more and more like we need a replacement.
The Wife and I are really enjoying our vacation. It’s great to relax and not be in a rush to do things.
Happy Independence Day!
