Monday Monologue #341

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife)

  • I was outside all day on Saturday and Sunday even though it rained. It wasn’t cold even though it was wet. We’ve had very few weekends of good weather this year. It was still better than being inside.
  • We have been taking more walks in the evenings we can’t get out and row since our fitness trackers show how sedentary we are when were stuck indoors. The wife has good habits. I need a lot of exercise to match my diet.
  • Because of the weather, I’ve been cutting my grass slightly more frequently including Saturday afternoon. Still, not like my next-door neighbor who is obsessed.
  • We rowed today even though it was windy. Ordinarily we may not have. But, even though it’s June, it’s still a somewhat rare treat to row (semi) regularly.

Monday Monologue #339

  • Our yard looks great. I spent all day Saturday outside mowing, trimming edging and cleaning the pool. Of course, I didn’t do anything fun.
  • The feeder on my electric trimmer broke and started eating string so I switched to my gas trimmer which, amazingly, started on the first pull. Then it’s feeder also broke down when I was touching up the last few areas. Hopefully I can get the replacement parts before I need to use it again.
  • It may be pointless given recent history; but we turned our smart thermostat to our preferred summer settings which favor cooling rather than heating.
  • No rowing again today. These days, it seems that we spend more time checking to see when river will be rowable than actually rowing.

Wednesday Weirdness #338

We had a warm, sunny day today! Warm enough so that, even though I was busy until the evening, we could go for a row at sunset and still have it be a pleasant temperature. We enjoy rowing at dusk when it’s warm (as long as we don’t encounter any skunks when we put our boat away). The weather has been trending warmer. Hopefully, a warm evening won’t seem notable.

Monday Monologue #338

An interior monologue from me (and sometimes the wife)

  • The Wife had a good Mother’s Day weekend. Its always good when we can all be around the same table at dinner. Even if it’s only for one day.
  • Sunday was cold, wet and miserable. And unfortunately, grass cutting day. Since I’m busy through the week, I need to cut the grass over the weekend regardless of weather. The blade lawn mower kept fouling in the tall wet grass. So, I spent an extra-long time in the outside in rain.
  • I think that I’m catching a cold. Probably from the yesterday. Not the best way to start the week.
  • It’s supposed to warm up later this week; hopefully for good. We’ve been teased before. We’re hoping it stays warm for the rest of the summer. We’ve both had enough of this cold, wet spring.

Monday Monologue #337

  • We got rained on some but our weekend outdoors was not cancelled. And Sunday was a warm, sunny day. So, it was good.
  • I cut the grass on Saturday despite it still being wet. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to thoroughly clean off the lawn mower. So now the garage is starting to smell a bit like a compost pile.
  • Today was really the first warm spring day of the year. We actually turned on the air conditioner. Maybe there will actually be a summer.
  • I was very late getting home from work today due to an accident on the highway. The route I usually take is quick. But, it requires a LONG detour if the highway is closed.

Traditional Thursday #336

The Husband on top of The Wife with her legs in the airOur pool has been open for a week and is starting to look good. Except the water is nearly overflowing even though it was drained to the proper level last week since its rained almost every day this week. We’ve had a lot of high water; but no flooding, so we really can’t really complain. All the wet weather around here is a nuisance; just not a disaster. We just want it to stop raining everywhere that’s had too much.

Monday Monologue #336

  • Our pool is open! I’m still vacuuming earthworms out and the water is freezing cold; but it still makes our backyard look more like spring.
  • As predicted, I cut the grass this weekend. Of course, my next-door neighbor cut his TWICE. Once on Friday and once on Sunday. Which was expected since I cut mine on Saturday.
  • I also got the mulch in down the front yard. So, while it was a bad weekend for outdoor activities near the river, it was a good weekend for around the house things.
  • No spoilers here; but we watched the latest Avengers movie and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s got to be a highly anticipated movie for us to go to the theater rather than wait for the Blu-Ray.

Monday Monologue #335

  • If you observe such things, we hope that you had a great Easter Weekend.
  • We are back from a 5-day spring break in a warm and sunny destination. It was fabulous. We actually returned the middle last week. It just took us a while to catch up on things after being on the road for so long. We’re back into our regular grove, though we would much rather not be.
  • I did finally cut the grass this past weekend. It was still a bit scraggly from the winter so it didn’t really need cutting before we left; but it certainly grew in while we were gone. It’s good I have a powerful lawn mower since it was still wet from the rain on Saturday.
  • It was cold, then it was rainy and now the river is too high. So, we haven’t rowed much recently. We have ridden our bicycles some; but, many of the bike paths are flooded too. Springtime is great after the long winter; but it would be even better without so much rain.

Monday Monologue #334

  • I’ve reconfigured my outdoor power equipment for the summer. The grass is turning green and it’s almost time to for the first mowing of the season. My next door neighbor has already started.
  • It’s definitely more comfortable in the house now that I’ve fixed the furnace. It probably wasn’t working as well as normal before it totally died.
  • We went down to the river but didn’t row on Sunday due to high winds. Usually we’re more determined; but, rowing season has just started and there will be a lot more opportunities.
  • Good luck to whichever team you’re cheering for in tonight’s championship. None of our favorites a participating, so we’re just hoping for a good game.

Wednesday Weirdness #332

Today was the first day of spring. And, the forecast rains head off long enough for The Wife and I to go for a row. The weather wasn’t totally spring like; but it was good to be on the water. Somehow, over the past few years, we’ve become “diehards” and do things we wouldn’t have remotely considered doing a few years ago. I’m still not sure how or when it happened.
